Writing Pad

The Many Uses of a Good Writing Pad

While digital technologies have reduced the need to write by hand, sometimes it is still the most convenient option. From writing a personal note to recording meeting minutes, using a pen and paper is often quicker and easier. That is why it is always good to have a writing pad on hand.

Why use a writing pad?

Though much of our communication is now done online, there is still plenty of need for a good writing pad. In fact, there are several potential benefits of handwriting notes and messages:

  • It can feel more personal: Handwritten messages literally have more of a personal touch. They are generally less filtered and can show more of your personal style and thought process. This is why handwriting is often the preferred option when keeping a diary or journal.
  • It can be more active: Handwriting often takes more focus and concentration than typing. As such, writing notes out by hand may help you retain more of the information.
  • It can help you focus: When you use a digital device to write, it introduces a lot of background noise – like email notifications, etc. But, when you write by hand, it is just you, your writing implement, and the writing pad.
  • It can be more permanent: When you write by hand, you generally cannot completely change what you have already written. This makes it easier to reflect on your thought process, which can be beneficial for brainstorming and creative thinking.

Choosing a suitable writing pad

Because writing pads have such a wide range of uses, there are also a wide range of options. The best one for you will depend on what you intend on using the pad for.

For example, if you are just looking for something to take notes on, a basic lined pad may be suitable. However, if you are planning to handwrite letters, you may prefer a stationary writing pad with a more detailed design.
