Yamaha Alto Saxophones
Yamaha is the world’s largest musical instrument manufacturer by a significant distance. Their extensive musical instrument lineup includes a complete range of alto saxophones, ranging from beginner models to professional-grade custom instruments. The Alto Saxophone
The alto saxophone is the second highest pitched of the four common saxophones, lower than the smaller soprano saxophone but higher than the tenor and baritone saxophones. It is commonly recommended as a first saxophone for new saxophonists, especially young ones. Its keys are laid out more closely than the tenor or baritone and it requires less lung capacity than either of the larger instruments. However, it is also more forgiving to play than the soprano saxophone, which can easily sound out of tune with improper technique.Yamaha Beginner Alto Saxophones
Yamaha saxophones are typically well-regarded by musicians and music teachers, and the brand is well-established as a maker of musical instruments. Yamaha produces several distinct models of alto saxophone. These include two models aimed at students: the YAS-26 and the YAS-280. The YAS-26 is an entry-level alto saxophone with a plain two-piece bell and nickel-plated polyester key buttons. Its neck receiver and adjustable thumb rest are designed to improve responsiveness and comfort during play. The YAS-280 is a slightly more advanced student model that comes in gold lacquer and silver-plated styles in which the keys are matched to the body. It also has a slightly longer range than the YAS-26, going up to high F#.Yamaha Advanced Alto Saxophones
Entry-level saxophones are perfect for students, but eventually musicians will want to upgrade their equipment. For experienced saxophonists, Yamaha sells the intermediate-level YAS-480 and the professional-grade YAS-62. Unlike the beginner saxophones, these models are based on the lower-profile, more responsive 62 neck. The YAS-62 also features a hand-engraved bell. Finally, the custom YAS-82Z and YAS-875EX Custom saxophones round out the very top of Yamaha’s alto saxophone line. These premium instruments come with Yamaha’s mastercrafted AV-1 neck, mother-of-pearl keys and hand-engraved one-piece bells for superior tone and response at the low end of the register. The YAS-875EX also has a completely redesigned key layout for more comfortable play.Other Yamaha Saxophones
Yamaha tenor saxophones are also available for all levels of player, from beginner students to world-class professionals. While alto and tenor saxophones make up the majority of Yamaha’s saxophone line, they also sell intermediate and professional soprano saxophones and baritone saxophones.
