Be original with an iPod Classic

Apple created the iPod in 2001 with the tagline "1,000 songs in your pocket". Its success led to six revised models that improved the display, storage space, and appearance, and it is now known as the iPod Classic.

Classic design

A forerunner to the immensely popular iPhone, the iPod Classic is a portable device used with headphones to listen to music for an easy-to-use and convenient way of carrying your favourite songs and videos while on the go. The mechanical scroll wheel, which was later changed to a touch sensitive wheel, is used to navigate the iPod, allowing users to quickly find and select content. The wheel also doubles as buttons to pause, play, forward, rewind, and skip music.

The various models of iPod Classic had differing storage capacities, with the original offering 5GB and 10GB, and the final sixth model came with the options of 80GB, 120GB and 160GB. The first four models of the Classic were white, and subsequent revisions were available in both black and white, which was later replaced with silver. If you want a blue or gold iPod, don't worry, there are also cute and colourful iPod cases so you can personalise your iPod to your tastes.

Uploading and downloading music

Content is stored onto the iPod Classic through Apple's media player software, iTunes, which can be installed onto a laptop or PC. Users can then transfer their media onto the iPod through a FireWire, or USB connector in later models. It should be noted that the first three models of iPod Classic are not compatible with Windows

The iPod Classic is seen nowadays as a slightly more retro alternative to one of Apple's later models, such as the iPod Shuffle, iPod Nano, or the iPod touch, but for an extensive music collection and a classic feel, the iPod Classic is still a great choice.
