About this product

Product Information

College Slam graduates to the PlayStation with forty top college teams, head-to-head play, and three different play modes: Semi-Finals, Tournament, and a twenty-game Season. College Slam also includes fight songs performed by the University of Cincinnati Bearcat Band, cheerleaders, and the ability to edit the names and stats of five players on your team.

As with other titles in the NBA Jam series, this is a two-on-two arcade-style basketball game emphasizing action. While the object is to outscore your opponents, there are numerous power-ups, hidden players, and secret codes to alter gameplay. Be prepared for gravity-defying dunks that can shatter backboards and crazy moves like the whirlwind. In addition, scoring three baskets in a row will make your player "on fire," increasing his overall abilities for as long as the opposition is held scoreless.

The PlayStation version mirrors the features found in the arcade game, including large players, CD-quality music, substitutions for injured players, voice samples, animated crowds, and up to four players can compete simultaneously with a Multi-Tap. Memory card support allows players to save both season and tournament progress, user records, and edited players.

  • Like the art style and animation, don't like the sound.

The main thing I like about College Slam is the fact that this is the only Playstation version of a "NBA Jam" series basketball game that closely resembles the art style and animation of the original arcade version of NBA Jam. The thing that I don't like about it is the sound is pretty bad, No Tim Kitzrow and it gets very quiet during actual games, just about as bad as the SNES home version of NBA Jam.
