I am a big James Bond fan. My favorite are Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan. When I purchased this film I had only 3 of Brosnan's movies on VHS and no other Bond movies. In this Ultimate Edition you get 5 full length Bond movies and 5 special features and info about each film which I loved watching. It gives you a sampling of Connery, Brosnan, Moore, Dalton(yuck) and Lazenby. Also fact is this volume includes George Lazenby's ONLY Bond film "In her Majesty's Service" It is hot. He wears some ruffly shirts, pretends to be gay, seduces all kinds of hot girls and displays the true Bond Man, 'shaken not stirred.' In my opinion it is EXCELLENT. I didn't know I would enjoy it so much. Anyway, I love it and will watch over and over including the special features. At just over $20 it was money well spent a GREAT purchase.Read full review
If you are a James Bond fan, you can't do much better than these collections. MGM is re-releasing all 20 official James Bond movies (that's not counting Casino Royale) in 4 separate box sets. Each of the volumes contains 5 movies, each digitally remastered with a ton of extras. Now if you only want a certain movie then I suggest you either go to a store, search for that single movie on Ebay or pick out the collection that carries it. Now these collections aren't placing the movies in any particular order. You get a variety of Bonds in almost each collection. You get Sean Connery, Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan in all 4 volumes. You get Timothy Dalton in Volumes 1 and 2. George Lazenby arrives in Volume 3. And for all those Daniel Craig fans you're left out in the cold until Casino Royale hits store shelves. Volume 3 contains From Russia With Love, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Live and Let Die, For Your Eyes Only and Goldeneye. Now I'm not like some 007 fans, I didn't get into the character until Timothy Dalton played the role, and that's because I just knew Pierce Brosnan was going to be the next James Bond back in 1987. (What can I say, I was in the 7th grade and I was a big Remington Steele fan.) So this was a great way for me to see how the character had developed over the years. I had seen Goldeneye prior to getting this volume. The other 4 movies I vaguely remember watching. I don't like watching movies on broadcast television because so many things are cut out due to broadcast standards. I played the From Russia With Love PS2 game so I had an idea of how the movie was supposed to play out. Even so, I still really enjoyed the movie. My favorite one in this volume was Live and Let Die. Seeing James Bond in Harlem, that had to be worth the price of admission back in 1973. And you can see how Jane Seymour might have gotten the Wedding Crashers nickname of Kitty Kat. On Her Majesty's Secret Service, I thought Lazenby did a good job with his turn as James Bond. I really liked how after he gets left on the beach by a woman, he looks in the camera and says "This never happened to the other fellow." Priceless. If you're a fan of 007 or just want to get an idea of what's behind this love of James Bond, then this is a perfect starting point. Even if, to you, Sean Connery is the first and only Bond or you think that George Lazenby should have had a chance to further his take on 007, you'll find something to like in this set. You'll be hard pressed to find a more complete collection of James Bond adventures.Read full review
True James Bond fans will love this series, especially Vol. 3, as it contains some of the most classic movies in the series. This volume contains the debute films of 3 different Bond actors. It features the first, and clearly the best of the Pierce Brosnan films, "Goldeneye" that turned out to be a re-invention of the series when it was needed most-after the Cold War had ended. "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" is one of the top 3 Bond films in my opinion. George Lazenby does a great job as Bond in this film, and it contains some of the best hallmarks of the Bond films: spectacular views, an amazing soundtrack, gadgets, and of course some fun, if somewhat hokey action (screeching tires in the ice race scene). And Bond finally really, really falls in love. The ending is dark and sets the stage for many of the other Bond classics, including one from this set--"For Your Eyes Only", where, in the opening scene, Bond finally gets the man from Spectre that he'd been chasing down for years and years. "Live and Let Die" is the debute of Roger Moore as 007, and is one of the best Bond films of the 1970s. The theme song from Paul McCartney's Wings is one of the best in all of cinema. That opening sequence alone is worth the price of admission. Finally, even Sean Connery fans aren't left out with "From Russia with Love", the secong Bond film, where the character really begins to get his stride and become the 007 we've all come to know and love. I think Volume 3 is the best of the set, even though it doesn't contain some of the iconic films such as "Goldfinger" and "Spy Who Loved Me", because each film in this set is a true Bond classic. Lastly, it must be noted that the digital remastering of these movies is exceptional. I just watched "On Her Magesty's Secret Service" and marveled at the clarity of the picture and the accuracy of the colors. Except for some of the cheesy special effects (again all in classic good 007 fun) you'd think the film was just released. The sound is incredible as well. If you are at all a James Bond fan, this set is for you.Read full review
Five of the best Bond films together in a boxed set. From Russia with Love is a Connery Classic that really established the 007 series in pop culture. On Her Majesty's Secret Service is on the most underrated Bond Movies ever simply because it was the only film that George Lazenby starred as 007. I initially purchased this set for this movie alone. Goldeneye, Live and Let Die, and For Your Eyes Only are also very fine Bond Movies. Goldeneye was the first Bond film made after the end of the Cold War and it reestablishes Bond's roll in fighting evil although hostilities between the Nato and Warsaw Pact countries had diminished. Live and Let Die is an example of a typical 70s Blaxpoitation film and it brings a new bit of humor to the table , especially with sheriff J.W. Pepper. I highly recommend this set, "shaken not stirred."Read full review
Well you might say I grew up watching James Bond films, so I thought I wanted all the copies, although Dr. No. and the first James Bonds were my favorite.(Sean Connery)...back in 1962.....while I was in high school.......so about 50 years later, I got all the James Bond movies, and could not stand it, until I watched the first 4 or 5.......I guess my favorite was "Goldfinger"........I love the theme song......Then as I watched I became aware just how fake the background scenes and all the fake things that made up the James Bond movies.....the first ones surely. In one scene Sean Connery starts to hit a guy with his right hand, then suddenly the next scene he's hitting him with his left fist.....hahahahahah...but all in all I wanted all the James Bond movies, and now I have them, fake or not, it's entertaining. The best place to buy the complete sets is on ebay....I've tried everywhere but ended up buying them here....Read full review
This whole set is absolutely wonderful. Set 3 contains my favorite Bond movie which is "From Russia With Love". It also contains the only Bond movie George Lazenby ever did, "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". Next to Sean Connery, Lazenby was second best as Bond. If you read the Ian Flemming books then Connery and Lazenby matched the description of James Bond in appearance and actions. You can't go wrong with the 'Bond Ultimate Collection'! Collect all four sets.
