Good Starter Printer for the 3D Printer Curious with LOTS of free support!
This printer has a lot of support online. I believe it's the most popular "beginner" 3D printer. Is it the best? I can't answer that. Are cheaper ones just as good? Maybe. I like that this one is completely open sourced. I also appreciate all the free support from other users. I know own two of them. Technically, the first one belongs to my son, but it took my extra effort to get his dialed in, too. Should you buy a 3-D printer? If you're as fascinated by the promise of the technology as I am, and you have a couple hundred bucks of disposable income, then yes. Should you buy this particular printer? Up to you. Again, the amount of free support out there on YouTube and lots of forums, I'm happy with my choice. The learning curve can be steep. Expect to do a lot of fiddling with this ... Expect to do a lot of fiddling with this setting and that one over there. Shy away from "improving" your printer from its stock configuration until you understand it better. It is NOT broken out of the box, you just need to learn how to work this remarkable tool. Stick with basic filaments like PLA or ABS and save the fancier filament like PETG or TPU until you understand how the machine works. Trust me, you'll be able to print plenty of unnecessary plastic objects with the stock printer and the inexpensive filament.
