Natty Dread is the first album with Bob's then newly formed Wailers band. After the original Wailers with Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh disbanded before a short US tour, Bob recruited Carlton and Aston Barrett, Junior Marvin and Al Anderson on lead guitar, Tyrone Downie and Earl "Wya" Lindo on keyboards, and Alvin "Seeco" Patterson on percussion. Along with the I Threes on backing vocals, Natty Dread gave Marley his first real taste of success with the No Woman No Cry single hitting #8 in the UK charts. Overall the album is very strong, with the whole A side comprised of tunes that would become live staples. An essential part of any Bob Marley collection.
