This updated tale of the famous classic of Victorian Terror reprised so many times in film is fairly true to the book's original characters, but makes the venue London and New Orleans. In a plot fairly familar to serial sequels, the imprisioned and immobilized Count Dracula escapes, making a few new entertaining bloodsuckers, and commences to seek Van Helsing's estranged daughter, his "granddaughter" by a twisted tangle of blood and leeches. The acting by Gerard Butler is capable, and foreshadows his role as Phantom of the Opera. Good supporting role by Omar Epps. I have seen it at least 4 times before this time, and wanted to own it for my permanent Dracula Collection.
This movie was purchased as the actor playing Dracula was Gerard Butler and I collect movies by actor. Also, because it was a vampire movie. I loved the charisma of Gerard Butler as he plays Dracula. His eyes can seduce a person quite easily. He was the best actor in this very cheesy movie. Good performances by many of the actors but some of the characters were unbelievable. The premise of how Dracula came about was different from that of any other vampire movie I have watched and gave me a new perspective. This movie definitely has gore, gore and more gore. The film has an artistic feel to it which added some interest. A good movie to be watched once or twice but gets quite boring after that. This "B" movie was made palatable by the appearance of Gerry Butler. The behind the scenes portion was okay. An okay movie to add to a Vampire movie collection. Lola aka rafflewenchRead full review
This is a mediocre offering in the Vampire franchise but it is notable if not for it's plot then for it's stars. Along with Jennifer Esposito and Omar Epps, are Nathan Fillon who went on to find success in Firefly and Serenity. Also is Jeri Ryan, of Star Trek fame. And playing Dracula is none other than Gerard Butler, the hugely popular multi million dollar actor. Having the movie is a MUST for any collector of Butler memorabilia or anyone fascinated by stars early works. For that alone, I reccomend this film to anyone wishing to purchase it.
very good and some have nasty languages mixed that I didn't like. It does have closed caption. very good and some have nasty languages mixed that I didn't like. It does have closed caption.
I love gerard butler, scottish actor, which is why I bought it. I didn't care too much for all the gore.
