I bought this for my two year old daughter as I was disappointed with the likes of the V-Tech and Fisher Price with their kid friendly digicams (lower resolution than even some of the cheaperst mobile phones!). I came across across one of these for a great price and have to say it's been worth every penny and more. At its most basic level (point and shoot) it is the simplest camera I have ever used - you just slide the lens cover, wait for the startup process to finish and then you hit the shutter release to take the photo. The results when viewed on a large computer screen are of great quality. The results are more even and balanced than a newish Kodak camera I've purchased. Like I said, I bought this for a two year old who has been as careful as a two year old can be and the camera is still fully functioning and in one piece. The casing has taken a few scratches where it's been launched across gravel when she tripped up but it has also withstood some pretty impressive drops onto hard surfaces. The batteries last quite well as long as you don't use the LCD preview screen all the time. We've trained our daughter to use the optical viewfinder and despite having the flash on auto and leaving the camera switched on for periods at a time, it normally lasts for a good 200 shots on two AA rechargeable batteries - not bad in my opinion and plenty for what we need. I imagine if you were to start using the LCD screen for composing pictures then this would drain the battery quite quickly and would probably be the biggest failing of the camera. Another disadvantage is it only takes the original XD cards, which rules out just about all the (cheap) XD cards 256mb or larger. Some people are selling the older smaller capacity cards at a premium but a 32mb card stores 67 standard 2 megapixel photos in our experience. Our camera did come with the original driver disc but as the camera works like a USB flash drive when plugged in to computer running XP, we've never used it. If you're looking at one that's missing the USB cable, I'd probably go for an XD card reader, although there are some replacement cables available on eBay. Prints are great at 6" x4" and can even be pushed to 7" x 5" with quite reasonable results if required. A great camera for kids, beginners or anyone who never has anything other than snapshot size pictures in their albums.Read full review
Bought as a christmas present for my mum who is new to digital photography and is very pleased with it as a starter camera. Item arrived quickly from seller, it was a used item but exc condition. I already own one myself and use it for most of my photography. The digital zoom is a bit limited qualitywise. Since this model was introduced years ago megapixel quality of digital cameras has increased, but this camera gives good results despite being at the lower end of the scale, I always use mine on high quality. The removable SD memory card is a useful feature allowing you to buy a load of these and keep changing when full and allows you to keep photographing as long as your batteries will last, great if on holiday and you haven't got computer access to download after each card is full (about every 30 photos). I've taken some really great photos with mine and find it useful for work projects and photographing car restoration projects so you can take loads of pics and sort out later what you want to keep. Mine have paid for themselves many times over when you consider the 35mm film I could have used taking lots of detail shots of car restoration work. The flash is good and there are 4 modes so you can choose what suits your photo. The review panel is smallish but gives you a good idea of what the real photo is like and you can see the pics you have taken by scrolling through so you can delete the duds freeing up more space on the SD card. I use Duracell batteries in mine which last a while, best probably to use rechargeable alkalines which may be cheaper if you use it a lot. All in all it is an inexpensive camera which gives adequate results, is easy to use, easy to unload photos from (Even easier with a USB car reader). The digital zoom isn't great and you are stuck with a small range lens, also closeups aren't great but for the money it is a good buy. I have had 2 others, one broke and I still use my other. So on balance I think it is excellent value and gives great results and great if you want to take it out where it may get lost or damaged as they are fairly cheap secondhand.Read full review
This camera is great value for money. It takes great pictures without the need for complicated settings. The supplied software is easy to use and allows Picture Cd's, slideshows and videos to be written directly to CD and DVD that look and play like professional DVD's. The camera is light and compact so easily fits into a pocket.
I liked this Camera because it was compact yet solid, easy to pop into your pocket and easy to operate, and came in origional box with all books leads and driver etc; what I did not like was that it did not work properly and would switch itself off after about 45 seconds, showing a red battery sign even with new batteries. Shame it had to go back for a full refund including postage, but not a lot of use as it was.
Having converted most of my old video collection to DVD I was thrilled to find this film gem in digital format. If you watch this in widescreen format, it really does the battle scene great justice; coupled with surround sound, you'll be gripped by the amazing cinematography. I would recommend the director's cut that includes scenes about the relationship between the lead character and his estranged wife and helps you to understand the motivation behind his decision. The run time is 183 minutes for the directors cut and 120 minutes for the cinema version. I was, however, disappointed by the lack of extras, which any fan of this classic would expect to be included. There's only a 20-minute interview with the director and other shot "making-of" vignettes.
