      Works well, and has blinky lights that tell you its working.

      This works nicely. I like the blinky lights too. Anyway, the cable and interfaced gave me easy access between my laptop USB connection and the automation system's db9 connection. I had to make a little extension cord for the db9 connection because the db connector hood has the interfacing circuits i it. That was little too large to fit into the recess for the socket on the automation box.

      Works GREAT

      This is my second GearMo USB/RS_232 adapter. I use these adapters with both Win XP and Win 7. The LEDs are very handy. Highly recommended. One very minor nit: it causes RFI to an AM if the wire is run too close to the radio. NO BIG DEAL, but it had me confused for a while.

      Perfect for Allen Bradley Rockwell Legacy PLC's

      This usb to serial adapter works flawlessly with VMware running old PLC programming software. I had nothing but trouble with non FTDI chip adapters. It even works with RSLinx autoconfig which is great. The LED's even show you when you have the cable hooked up right - for example when you need a crossover adapter for SLC processors. Forget the insanely priced adapters from the manufacturer, this adapter rocks!

      Gearmo and LMR programming:

      I like these for the following reasons, (1) The LEDs will clearly show I/O data flow if it's occuring. (2) These have true FTDI Chips in them. (3) The driver is capable of assigning a port. Note I assign COM-1 because RS-232 serial is usually not present on older Netbooks, and usually the Gearmo driver works very smoothly on my older XP machines. For Technicians that program LMR Radios, this adapter should be a must in your RS-232 cable drawer.
