Let's face it, everything made today is pretty much junk, since most of what we buy now is made in ASIA... This drive is no different, but I noticed I have better luck when buying drives made in Singapore than those from China... I know that seems silly, but it's true - Barracudas aren't what they used to be, so if you are buying a drive new, be sure to ask where it was made, and if you get lucky, you can still find some NOT made in China... I'd shy away from the 5900 RPM drives if you need them for something like a disk array (RAID LEVEL 0) - the 7200 RPM drives are still better in my opinion... but for grandmas new computer, 5900 drives are fine... the 5900 drives idea is to save energy, and that the larger data drives, the sectors are so much smaller that, they take less time to be read, etc etc... yeah? then why all the faulty data with the newer 2TB drives? - maybe in a few months, but for now, stick with the 1TB drives if you want something solid... I have 2 of these in one RAID, and 3 750's in another, and they both work great...Read full review
The 3.5 inch 1 TB hard drive was fairly priced with shipping costs included. The instructions that came with the hard drive were clearly written although they really weren't needed since it was a direct swap out of the failed hard drive for the Seagate Barracuda 1 TB replacement Hard Drive. The old/original connectors on the iMac G5 mother board perfectly fit the new hard drive connections. The hard drive was shipped with lightning speed and was well packaged for shipping. The hard drive worked great and I had no problems whatsoever in installing it into the 20 inch iMac G5 computer. It replaced a hard drive that failed and brought new life to the iMac G5. The Seagate Barracuda drive comes with a 5 year warranty.
Another fast 20 year HDD for gaming. A great replacement to my old 5300rpm HDD. I do notice a small FPS boost in Destiny 2. all around a good solid HDD thanks.

I purchased this HD about a month ago for a gaming rig that I put together. When I was reading reviews for Seagate, there were several people that had mixed feelings, and mixed experiences with their hard drives. So far I have had no issues with it whatsoever (knock on wood). It has fairly quick data transfer, and start up takes about 35 seconds. This is one of the first non-stock HDs that I've purchased, but it does the job I need it for, it's spacious, and the price was right. I'm certainly satisfied with what I got, but if you're looking for a top-of-the line drive, and top-of-the line performance, then you won't find it in this price bracket. Bought this for a media server and I've been exceptionally pleased. Buffering time? NADA! Storage capacity? TONS! It was priced exceptionally well considering all you get out of it and how much other drives of this capacity cost. Overall, I really couldn't ask for much more (or I would be asking for way too much!). Very pleased with price, capacity, and performance and that was all I was looking for.
I've owned three other Seagate hard drives and have used many more with no problems except that one failed after six years of daily use. However, this 1-TB drive gave me trouble from the start with Windows XP Pro SP-3 giving me pop-up warnings of "unable to write file due to hardware failure, save file elsewhere." I wasted a full day of my life trying to work this out and finally found through Seagate's forums that others were having trouble and that Seagate was working on a Firmware update to solve problems for this drive. A week later, Seagate e-mailed me a notice that the Firmware update was available and I wasted another few hours trying to update this new drive with new Firmware only to find that the update was only for an older firmware version. I may have to just return the drive to Seagate.Read full review
Can't say I qualified to review electronic parts, but........... Bought this drive to replace a Chinese made Seagate that developed errors, crashed my 'puter and fail all hard drive tests. Simple drive replacement, then spent a couple days re-installing XP Pro, updating and re-installing all my apps. Was only able to recover small amount of data from old drive before the replacement so I have seriously learn the wisdom of backing up data to my 2nd drive (a Max 2T)
After a number of months it's still going strong. Only recently windows 10 noticed some bad sectors and did a repair
