The Travel Scope 50 is a decent scope for the price. The solar filter is glass - definately better than mylar which can scratch easily. The tripod is a bit flimsy - you might consider using a better tripod, or piggy-back mount it to another scope. The aiming device is easy - and centered pretty good. It works like a sun-dial - when the shadow is in the center of the target the scope is pretty close to centered. The scope comes with a 20mm eyepiece, you could probably use a 15mm for better viewing. The backpack is decent - and can hold additional accessories and lenses.

I can't wait for the eclipse next month. This small scope works exactly as intended. I saw some sun spots the first day I took it out. The eyepiece shows a full field of the sun, which should be perfect for the eclipse, we are only getting about 80% of totality, by I will be able to see it well. I would definitely recommend it for the money.
