Went through set up and it never connected. After talking with numerous people at T-Mobile, they could not activate the device, even though my provider TING uses T-Mobile as the network. Need a post paid plan with T-Mobile. Since I do not have a good enough signal in house, this is what I needed, but can't get it authorized to use it.

I've been a T Mobile customer for 6 years. I live at the bottom of a hill and only have 1 bar on my cell phone antenna. Was ready to give up on T Mobile. I called up T Mobile and they sent me this unit. It is easy to install for a slug like me. It took about 35 minutes for it to recycle through its paces then I had to reset my modem and router to make it work. I now have very good reception; about 85% of the time, I have five bars on my cell phone and I am out of the doghouse with my wife to solve it. I noticed several people who weighed in on this unit it did not like it well, all I can say is that it works great for me in my situation.

This is not to be confused with the cellspot signal booster in which you need at least one bar for it to be effective. The personal cellspot 4G LTE is meant to work in an area where there is NO signal. That said, you do need an internet connection for it to work. Once it's hooked up, it creates a small cell zone around your house for your phone to hook up to. This is exactly what we needed as we live in the mountains just beyond the reach of the nearest T-Mobile tower. I noticed that my new phone was draining the battery almost daily and a little research showed that the phone was always searching for a cell signal even tho wifi calling was enabled for local home use. With wifi on and airplane mode enabled, the battery drain issue was resolved, but I often forgot to wither turn in off or back on when going back and forth to town. This device solved that problem for me and now I can go several days on a battery charge as the phone is no longer searching for a cell signal. This device can usually be obtained thru T-Mobile but with chip shortages abound, it was easier to just purchase one and solve my problem. Perfect device for someone with wifi but no cell signal from a tower. Just don't confuse it with a signal booster!Read full review

These are NOT FOR RESALE, it's written right on the unit! So the sale of these is Illegal. These don't work unless you call T-Mobile and have them activate them....and THEY WILL NOT. they REFUSE. Yet these clowns keep selling them...why?

If you see one of these for sale, please consider it - this has nothing to do with your cell phone signal - it is a router for wifi. This means you will pulg into your internet cable - the fat one, usually yellow but comes in all colors - and have wifi ready for your whole house/office. The set up is a bit weird, so read the instructions carefuly. at the end of the day this is a good router, bit outdated looking but still holds up.

This device does/does-not Does: -give you 4G LTE signal in the house where before there was little or none (i mean 0 signal) Your voice calls and internet work very well. - anyone with mobile device will benefit from it (yes they will be leaching off your broadband and you cant block or limit bandwidth it uses unless you configure the bandwidth limiting in your router) - doesn’t require gps antenna connection but the signal acquisition takes alot longer. Depending on router/modem you might have to open ports that are needed for proper operation :UDP port 500, UDP port 4500 and UDP port 123. I’m with Verizon Fios ISP and all 3 of those ports were not forwarded - device locked 4G LTE - 5 minutes after i forwarded those ports in the router. This device was given to me free of charge by t-mobile This device will not: Boost week signal! —- It generates its own tmobile coverage area ignoring what is available from outside. Requires. Broadband internet service to be present in your home!!!!! Needs to be hardwired to your router/modem/home network. Will not connect to wifi!!! You will have to forward ports with some ISP’s - The ports that need to be unblocked, UDP port 500, UDP port 4500 and UDP port 123. If you are unable to accomplish that yourself call your ISP and they will assist ( you might have to call more than once if you get a “DUM-DUM) don’t give up the device is stable, works well and tmobile stands by with support. I expected the product to be really difficult to configure and in general provide sporadic coverage. All that was necessary was to follow a well done brochure through less than a dozen steps. Once it became operational we went from one or two bars of service to a full five bars throughout the house. I tested it out after a week or two by unplugging it and immediately went back to one or two bars of cell phone signal strength.

Not for resale, and why pay when T-MOBILE gives them out for free if you complain about your weak cellphone reception!!! Don't get it, even for free if you have close neighbors because they can connect and watch Netflix for free on your internet provider, your data will be charged for their use. This is for those who have a T-MOBILE account and live at least 1000ft from their neighbors!
