I had this same model that lasted for about five years, then decided to stop working rather suddenly. I had a few DVDs that still needed finalizing, so I thought I would buy the same model and see if the DVDs would finalize in the new machine. No. So the main purpose for buying the machine didn't work, but I still have a nice, simple DVD recorder that should last another five years or so. This is a "record only from the same channel you're watching" machine, so it's definitely good for the technology-challenged. I would buy this again, since I already did.
Hook up was very easy. Records and play back with great picture. Remote is easy to use. Only problem I have with it is, I wish it was a little bit shorter.

The reason I decided to by this model of DVD player was simple. It was very easy to understand the instructions on how to record to DVD's which was something I had never done before and we had just switched to HD programming on our Dish network plan where there are a lot of shows I wanted to record !! Maybe sometime in the future we might switch to a DVR recorder but for now the Sylvania works out just great !!! :) :) :)
I sold it on Ebay. I didn't even bother plug it in to test its recording capabilities. I bought a LitenOn DVD recorder instead.
very good
