This motherboard replaces an original OEM motherboard having oft-reported 7-beep-at-boot error codes. Thought to be a symptom of early production runs, this replacement motherboard is a later-production rev. Dell original, OEM-spec board, well packaged in electrostatic guard. The motherboard is fairly easy to install - following Dell's downloadable service manual for the Inspiron M5030. The only thing missing that would make this a cinch to install would be to supply some of the silver or white de-electric heat sink "goop" needed when re-installing the fan+heatsink unit - it's easy to get most anywhere - but be sure to have some on hand when swapping out the original board. Be sure to operate on a work surface that is static-free and non-metal.

Dell subcontracted manufacture of this motherboard to a Chinese vendor that lowered quality standards. Soldering is substandard. You will have problems. Google will point you towards a slew of temporary solder reflow fixes (google "Dell seven beeps"), but it is best to avoid this product and the Dell M5030 line.

Mounted the Mobo, cleared bios, removed CMOS battery and ram. Still nothing but the the 7 beeps indicating bad CPU.

This motherboard, or more specifically the heat sink, is terrible. There is a very good chance that this board will completly fail within a year or 2. Most of the problems are directly related to overheating in the video chipset. Continuous overheating and cooling cycles will break solder connections to the video chip and cause graphic problems, crashing, or failure to P.O.S.T. The good news is that the board can usually be fixed by reflowing the solder on the video chip. Ebay seller RNRCOMPUTER does a great job fixing these and supplies a copper slug to ensure good thermal transfer from the video chipset to the heatsink. After the copper slug is installed, reliability issues go away and this becomes a fairly decent motherboard.
The motherboard was in excellent physical shape but when installed the wireless did not work nor did the keyboard. I have repaired this laptop before and it was done correctly. I can only surmise the board had defects. I bought a new HP. Never Dell again.
