    I PURCHASED THIS SET PRIMARILY FOR AQUIRING THE REMOTE CONTROLLER

    I already had a set of earphones which came with my Insignia CD player. They produce a fine sound and the cover over the ear portion is much more durable than what came with the earlier CD Insignia players. I needed the remote that was part of the set, because mine had a wire that had broken where it was connected to the remote and would not work properly. I love the remote and all its functions- It can skip forward or back to a tune or reading section with a book. It also has an excellent volume control and pause button all that are useful, again when interrupted when listening to text or music, allowing you to continue right where you paused. Unfortunately it only works with the Insignia, so one cannot connect it to any other brand CD player.

    Great value for listening to audio books.

    I wanted a player that would play audio books on both CD and MP3 CD formats while I'm walking. This one does both well. I had to return a player that I bought previously because it kept stopping when playing MP3 discs. This one moves right along. Controls are easy to use and conveniently located on top of the player. The price is more than reasonable. I don't know how this would be for a music buff. I only use it for audio books.
