Good game so far, true to silent hill series. Only drawback is, monsters are somewhat easy to kill at first, you just have to keep hitting buttons but as the game progresses, levels and monsters get waaay harder and the button mashing method will not work. Second drawback is, game has no real exploration. Once you get into an area, there is only one way to go. All doors are locked except for the ones you need to go through, so there is no real "surprise". Only a few areas to "get lost" in. Makes finding way through buildings kind of a no brainer. All in all, the game is dark, scary and stays true to the heart of SH series. I quite like it On the other hand, there is still lots of exploring to do and there are tons of startling moments where I was truly scared. Game is dark and characters are good. Music is OK, I kinda like it. If I could change a couple things it would be...Add more rooms to explore in, kinda to waste some time exploring instead of just finding unlocked doors that lead you to where you need to go. I like the new combat features. You have to remember, the main character was in the ARMY (OR MARINES whatever), it adds some fun to the game and makes it fun to kill the monsters that ARE hard to kill. I also like the darkness of the game and the creepiness, it is some what true to the first 3 SH games.Read full review
After playing through Homecoming for the first time I found it to be a little different from past Silent Hill titles. One of the more noticeable differences was how they made it look a more like the movie that came out in 2006. If you have played previous Silent Hill games and have seen the movie then you will see what I mean. There were real time changes over to the other world and certain enemies acted like they did in the movie. The combat system also had a complete overhaul. No longer do you just swing with the same attack over and over again. It seemed like I had to dodge more in this game than previous ones as well and the enemies behaved how you would expect them. If you turned off the light, nurses would actually stop coming at you! Besides the occasional dark screen glitches and a few save point glitches this game was great and the scare factor was still there just like before.Read full review
Like the rest of the Silent Hill series, Homecoming is more about atmosphere than anything else. The combat is still clunky (but better than earlier games), it struggles and gets choppy displaying graphics that aren't very good by current standards, and the humans look like they're carved out of wax. I think fans of the series will be happy with Homecoming because it delivers more of the same dark town and creepy monsters they've come to expect. Someone who had never played a Silent Hill game before might think it seems very outdated compared to games like BioShock and Prey. It's like an interactive horror B-movie. Play it with the lights out and don't be disappointed when some of the details are a bit goofy.
This was my first foray into the Silent Hill universe, so I can't say I am a fan. I thought I'd delve into it after catching the feature film on TV, which was so out there I thought it had to be a great video game. Unfortunately, although the game was just as bizzare and creepy as the movie, it was as far-fetched as the movie almost bordering on ridiculous. However, the only thing this game has in common with the movie is the town of Silent Hill; it's a completely different story altogether. This game is like Resident Evil on acid (if that were even possible)and I like RE. The CG is passable--barely; the controller action is very good and the graphics respond well to it but the story graphics are poor and the characters look lifeless like maniquins. As far as gameplay is concerned, it's less a gun weilding game and more of a melee game. There just isn't enough ammo to be found to eliminate the bad guys with just your guns. You have to become proficient with your knife and ax. The game is very short but they try to make up for it by working in alternate endings and different acheivements which occur depending on your choice of options at various story points with certain character interactions and dialogues. If you are so inclined to beat the game enough times to view every ending you'll find yourself taking under 3 hours to complete it beginning to end. Not the best.Read full review
Wow! I can actually play well with this one. An old friend I think had it years ago, and I just watched then. Thank you that you had it for me to buy
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
Well for starters I played the whole Devil May Cry series , so I can really say that Devil May Cry 4 its the best game out of this franchise .The game is very challenging and took me more than 100 hours to complete all the achieviments. You start playing has Nero fighting a experienced Dante in a church cenario, its like the game is saying "You wanna play with me then train with this beginner first!" , a must have for action fans. Silent Hill homecoming was a mistery from the star , it came from a new developer company (Double Helix) and after the awfull sequence (Silent Hill 4: The Room ) I became quite desapointed with this series. However I was pretty satisfied to see that this title was put in good hands , its very well made , scary looking and it makes good use of the hardware of the next generation consoles. The history is entangling and the monsters came from the worst nightmares I could ever had. A must have for horror fans ( and one more thing dont trust online reviews of this game , play it and you surely gonna see what im talking about ).Read full review
This particular game happens to be the most innovative of the series. The story is bold and nothing is kept hidden. The music of the game? A total masterpiece!!! Silent Hill has always been known to take place in abandon buildings and these buildings bring bring the experience to life. Crawling through holes, near death experience at many parts of the game. The graphics are very pleasing. Very clean and uses a new system of "noise effects" which make the game truly sharp for the HDTV. Silent Hill is also famous for it's multiple endings... And this game is no exception. This time around... You do not need to do a squence of things in the game to unlock the alternative endings. Just playing the game again would be good enough to unlock the next ending. I found the story to be very understandable. The story is very intense. I had a few problems... You can't freely save in the game. You have to go very far to find the next save point also the amount of saves are too little. 2 minor flaws that are acceptable. Trust me... You won't be disappointed!Read full review
I ordered this for a ten year old grandson for Christmas. After receiving the game, and reading the rating more carefully I realized that it was well beyond his age and did not open the game at all. I did return it. It did sound as if the game would be a good one, particularly for an adult male. Pesonally, I wouldn tot play that kind of came. I am a very Christian woman and feel that the game would not be something I would enjoy. However, I am sre there are many people who would really enjoy the high action game
This game is true to the silent hill nature. It is jam packed with scares that can cause a grown man to scream like a little girl. When I play this game I can only play for so long before I get sucked too far into the story and I myself start feeling on edge. I play this on a Klipsche 5.1 with a Bravio 52" in HD.... Full set up, and this just intensifies the way the game messes with your mind. Truly a great game worth buying.
I purchased this game becuase i have silent hill origens, a much better game, and wanted another silent hill game, but this one has set weapons you can get and have to get to win, but in the other you could collect just about eny random item as a weapon, also the story is confuseing and hard to follow, and the ending is just such a terible ending it is not even right, they fail at ending this game, also the boss fights sometimes turnd out to be easy compared to just random fights that you had to go threw in the game, i would NOT recommend you buy this game, only a true silent hill fan will even find this game sufferable to get some more of the story from it. The graphics are kind of average for the xbox 360 and the camera angles will make you want to rip hair out of your scalp from frustration. I can not stress enuff that the ending of this game is so terrible, it will make you feel like you wasted all your time on this game for nothing, save some time and cash, do not buy this game.Read full review
