well, it's not exactly new, which is fine because I have only DDR3 memory. but it's ... well, it's not exactly new, which is fine because I have only DDR3 memory. but it's a keeper because, and it's a big because, I can upgrade from Windows 7 or Windows 8 to Windows 10 free. I've done it, and it's what's put me on Windows 10. no big deal, you say. uhhh, let me say that the Maximus V, same Z77 chip, also made by ASUS, won't handle the upgrade. gets hung up, then reloads the old Windows at the 84% mark, every time, noting a problem with the chipset. this Sabertooth is a life saver.
OLD BUT STILL GOOD. WAS SHIPPED IN A DIFFERENT PRODUCT BOX. MOTHERBOARD WAS FILTHY. ... OLD BUT STILL GOOD. WAS SHIPPED IN A DIFFERENT PRODUCT BOX. MOTHERBOARD WAS FILTHY. SMELL LIKE AN NASTY ASH TRAY. HAD CRAP IN SENSITIVE AREAS OF THE BOARD. TOOK ME 2 DAYS TO CAREFULLY REMOVE JUNK OFF THE BOARD AND REMOVE THE STENCH THE PREVIOUS OWNER LEFT. BOARD IS NOW LOOKING NEW AND RUNS SMOOTH.
I was looking for a solid cool running computer motherboard to operate a sound system ... I was looking for a solid cool running computer motherboard to operate a sound system for live rock music shows. This board had the best reviews and coupled with the fact that the military endorses it, I bought it. I really like the looks of it, even though that does not matter as you can not see it inside the rack mounted case but I don't mind having to go inside either. My only complaint is, the PCI expansion slots do not read anything I put in them. Perhaps a manufacturing flaw on this individual asus board. I have seen that it seems to be a common flaw with asus though. My rack mount case fans and 2 on board included, total 16 cooling fans, very important to escape the latency issues pertaining to computers running sound systems. Since I do not need a sound card or a video card for this operation, the board more than exceeds my expectations. I have an i7 2600 3.4 ghz sandy bridge processor and a master cooler v8 cooling it. It crunches a massive amount of numbers as goes with music and effects signal processing, usually meaning, a lot of generated heat which hang up the computing process, something of which you can't have in live performances. But this one runs cool, really cool. Also have added 32 gigs of 1600mhz mushkin for dimm. Has 3.0 usb's as well as 2.0. It would be nicer if I could add my asus xonar essence stx sound board to the pcie, so as to run dual rca's left and right in to the mixer instead of sole reliance on usb. Keeping in mind also that the xonar board has its own processing and memory. Even cooler. Perhaps I have a flaw in this one only, I will buy another mb to see if the pci's will work on that one. If not, then someone from asus better talk to me instead of putting me on hold constantly. That being said, I find it an incredible board, if functioning properly. She is a beauty. The bios is amazing also, with nice looks and easy and advanced functionability. Monitoring for ALL cooling fans you decide to put inside the case. This is a great board and moderately priced. Nice on board graphics. Nice looking with the tuf armor, my v8 master cooler really enhances the appearance of this board I think for the inside of the case as well as superior cooling capabilities of the processor itself, without liquid. Something I am not really keen nor sold on, yet.
The ASUS TUF series of motherboards is renowned for their durability and performance, ... The ASUS TUF series of motherboards is renowned for their durability and performance, and will be getting a new entry with the ASUS Z77 TUF Sabertooth motherboard. Though the features and construction of the Sabertooth boards has long been built around the most demanding environments, the Z77 Sabertooth is certainly not short on features and performance capabilities and has become a favorite of enthusiasts and gamers. As with all recent TUF motherboards, the Z77 Sabertooth comes fully tested from the factory, right down to each military class component, and comes with a full five-year warranty to back it up. The look of the Z77 Sabertooth is quite distinct, and certainly has the appearance of durability far beyond the average motherboard. At first look, the dust cover and Thermal Shield let you know that the Z77 Sabertooth means business. However, they are not merely decorative and serve not only to protect the underlying components from everyday dust and possible knocks, but also have a dual fan system to channel air over the motherboard’s components. To ensure that the operating environment is as it should be, Thermal Radar provides four points of temperature readings on the board rather than the customary single sensor. The underlying components are certainly up for some serious overclocking, featuring a TUF Power 8+4+2 Digital Phase Power Design to get your CPU, iGPU and RAM all of the power they can handle, along with precise control to optimize each phase of your power. For high end discreet graphics, the Sabertooth features 2 PCIe x16 Gen3 slots plus a third x16 Gen2 slot for up to 3-way SLI or CrossfireX. Connectivity is not in short supply, with the Z77 Sabertooth sporting 4 SATAIII, 4 SATA II, 6 USB 3.0, 10 USB 2.0 and 2 eSATA 6GB/s connectors. For added USB 3.0 speed, the Sabertooth takes advantage of ASUS’ USB 3.0 Boost, making use of the new UASP protocol, as well as Intel’s Turbo USB. On the entertainment end, the Sabertooth has both HDMI and Display Port for iGPU video, and 8 channel audio with optional optical output.
Great Board for Gaming and Low Temps Under Load - Thermal Amor is for Real
I used this Board as the platform for my wife's new PC and I have to say, This ... I used this Board as the platform for my wife's new PC and I have to say, This was a great choice!
I have installed and used Asus Boards in the past and have complete trust in that brand personally. Having said that though, I was really skeptical about the concept of Thermal armor. I guess I didn't understand how two small fans were going to keep the air, underneath the armor itself, cool enough to disperse the heat coming off the board's components. I was Pleasantly surprised at my temps, when putting this through several tests.
Anyway, I think this board is a great choice, even for gaming, it more than hold's it's own.
I got this board new off an Ebay seller for just over $200, which for brand-new, I thought to be a good deal.
I Installed this with an i7 3770 processor,
24gb of 2133 Ripjaws ram,
processor water cooler and block for overclocking,
Graphics Card used on this build is the Asus GTX 590,
120gb SSD for the OS and ect,
1.5TB storage drive,
1080w PSU just in case I want to power another 590 in the future,
And All of this is Installed into a CoolerMaster HAF X Full Tower Gaming Case(pictures will "soon" be located at: http://www.overclock.net/newsearch?search=wrath04
clicking on wrath04 's profile should get you to where the pics will be.
