Bachmann has scored a home run with the new DCC sound equipped 4-4-0. It runs flawlessly, a small can motor smoothly powering the locomotive through switches and crossings with greatly improved power pick-up. DCC set up with a Bachmann EZ DCC controller could not have been simpler and there are enough features: bell, whistle, dimmable headlamp and exhaust chuff to satisfy the folks who need sound. The Central Pacific "Jupiter" decoration is of a very high standard and fairly represents the colorful schemes of these early American locomotives. It has working knuckle couplers front and rear so you can actually switch with this engine. The front coupler is my favorite feature, having tried to convert older models with poor results. I have loved the little 4-4-0s ever since Tyco introduced the General in 1961 but this is the locomotive I have always dreamed of. Thank you Bachmann, this is a wonderful engine.Read full review

Crisp, detailed ornate paint work, accurate sounds, beautiful detailing, and excellent performance. This is a real one up from the DC 4-4-0s. Highly recommended if you're going for a Western Railroad or tourist train. Overall amazing piece at a great price (MSRP over $300!)
