I did a lot of research before choosing this camera, which is perfect for my needs. 10 megapixels is plenty. I can zoom in on my photos and see lots more detail than I'll ever need. But the best things about the camera are the retro-style easily accessible knobs on the outside. No diving into "virtual" menus to find what I need for the most important features, like brightness control, aperture priority, shutter priority, macro, flash options, etc...It's compact size is small enough for me to hang it on it's strap around my neck and hardly notice the weight. Again, the zoom is plenty for my needs (5x--plus digital zoom if you're desperate for distance) The swivel-style LCD viewer is fantastic for those odd angle shots I like to take, like up-close macros. Newer models have more megapixels, but not the swivel screen. I'll take the swivel screen. Image Stabilization works flawlessly. The ISO range is adequate as well. The video is fine. I also like the fact that I purchased this used camera at a good value price, and it still has a lot to deliver at its age.Read full review
I had one in the past, like 7 years ago, then the evolution of digital, specially the M4/3 take me to other preferences, even brands. Usually I was a Olympus and Canon user, from the Olys dslr 4/3 then the micro 4/3 and I sold my Canons ! There were many factors, even the small size of the m43, don’t adjust to what I need! A little camera with me ALL THE TIME ! Perfect size, great image quality, Raw, manual , AP, TP, zoom, great low light pics are the reason I returned to the Powershot G 11 !

Pros of G11 *The photos are awesome!! *The colors are great using vivid and film coloring settings *Great size to take everywhere with you *Handles Awesome and easy to hold while snapping shots *The options of colors and styles of photos are endless *All the buttons and knobs are perfect for my hands and easy to adjust *Love the brightness wheel on top of camera *It is great being able to change ISO on top of camera *Solid build little camera that can go from auto photos to as advance as you would like....every time I use it I find more ways to use its many options! *All and all just a great Camera and amazing photos!! Cons of G11 *No user manual...Comes with CD but I would prefer a book *The small view finder only shows about 75% of shot so you have to learn how to judge your photo with this handicap *Wish it had a little more zoom distance for wildlife so had to purchase a telephoto lens *Comes with a very cheap plastic neck strap so plan on buying a new one with your camera purchase. I still would give this camera a 5 star rating because of quality, look, feel, power and ability to take such beautiful shots. Adding a telephoto lens and a couple of nice filters will allow photos as good as most DLS cameras. I purchased the G11 Field Guild Book and it has been priceless to me for showing where everything is at and how to use all the settings. It has served me as a owner manual and a great tool for all the tricks this little camera can do.Read full review
The G11 is very much like the G10. It has many of the same features. The G11 is only 10 megapixels but the new electronics make up for it. Even Nikon cut down on the megapixels in some of there cameras they are finding out its not necessary or an advantage. I like this camera because i can carry it with me just about any where i go and still get a professional quality picture.its easy to use it has a hot shoe for a better flash. I am not concerned with the video capabilities in the camera I have no use for it. I think that the video quality will suffer a bit with the G11 as opposed to the G10. My G10 flew of my motorcycle at about 40 miles an hour hit the street the battery compartment door broke off the battery was smashed and the body dinged, I managed to get the door back on had an extra battery and it still works without a loss in quality. It is not the official bike camera and the G11 is now my land camera. I a very happy with the G10 and 11 its great for still life stuff forget about moving events it has its problems in that area. After doing a bit of research, I decided to give the G11 a shot. I couldn't be happier. From the first shot, I was amazed at the clarity and the great detail. Since that time, I've taken around 2000 photos in my first two weeks of owning it - many for my work but many more simply for pleasure. I've taken some photos that I was never able to get with my SLR. I'm sure I will use it again at some point, but for now, I'm finding that the G11 works for everything I need. I thought I would need my 50 lens, but again the G11 is doing such a great job for me in low light situations that I haven't felt the need. For a camera I initially bought as something smaller that I could tuck away in my purse and be much easier to take on vacation, it has proved itself to be a 5 star camera that I'm using for so much more. The G11 is simple to operate- literally point and shoot as soon as you charge the battery. The best part is that with a little knowledge of photography you are able to use the manual settings as well. The RAW function is great to have as well. I would say that Canon made a wonderful choice in going from 12 to 10 MP with this camera. It's rare that anyone would ever need a photo larger than 10MP and if so, they probably already own a SLR for that purpose. Excellent for beginners or advanced. I highly recommend the G11. My one con would be that I'm not that fond of the camera strap (not wide enough for my taste) but I can easily replace that. Happy shooting!Read full review
