If you car camp, van camp or just need to saute food outside, this little guy is perfect. We will use it to heat coffee water or cook some breakfast when camping with our van. With this I don't have to drag out the Coleman stove/grill rig first thing, I like that. Simple to set up. It's solid in its base. The metal components seem durable. Good flame/BTU production. Small storage footprint. Could also serve as emergency cooking stove if the power goes out (which it does in heavy snowstorms in New England).

the gas control knob has "stops" or "detents" that do not allow you to control the flame infinitely from low to high. For instance, at the minimum burner setting to keep the flame burning I cannot grill a grilled cheese sandwich without burning the bread before the cheese melts. Definitely not useful at the lowest "simmer" type settings.

A reasonably reliable propane stove for emergency, home backup when your grill's propane tank runs dry, or car camping stove. Most people will probably use it for lite camping use ie car camping. This is not a backpacking stove with a minutea of settings or features - and that should go without saying. It fries, it boils, it somewhat simmers. It'll do the job, very easy to use, and its inexpensive. Propane bottles for these run $6. I was thinking of selling mine, its new, I just never use it. Im not a car camper ordinarily, I backpack and prefer a much lighter stove to haul around. No gripes about this Coleman, it does exactly what its made to do. But on second thought, I may use it to melt pewter for small sculpting projects. ** Danger - Its ill advised to use this propane stove indoors. Use in a cabins, RVs, tiny house or boat, propane gas can collect/pool to the lowest spot indoors and suffocate people. People can and do die when using propane stoves indoors. Propane stoves tend to give off more carbon monoxide and smoke. Conventional home stoves though they may use propane, have hoods that carry any excess gas, carbon monoxide or smoke out of the house. I would use it outdoors only. Or, if you must, take necessary precautions, well ventilated area for starters, open windows and doors. Perhaps purchase a carbon monoxide detector just in case the gas builds up to dangerous levels. Read up about it. Be safe.Read full review
