Additional information
Personnel: Ace Frehley (vocals, guitar); Tod Howarth (vocals, guitar, keyboards); John Regan (bass, background vocals); Jamie Oldaker (drums, percussion, background vocals). Recorded at Media Sound Studios, New York, New York. On his second full-length solo release since leaving Kiss, Ace Frehley pursues an even more commercial direction than 1987's already pop-friendly FREHLEY'S COMET. A few of the tracks were keepers, but he relies on outside songwriters and fellow Frehley's Comet member Tod Howarth for the majority of the tunes. Instead of getting back to the tough hard rock of his 1978 solo album, an obvious attempt is made at replicating the then-thriving pop metal bands. "Insane" (also released as a video), and "Separate" are closer to the Ace of old, however, and the mostly-instrumental "The Acorn Is Spinning" shows that the band can jam out when given the chance. but such blah keyboard-based titles as "It's Over Now" and "Fallen Angel" hew more tightly to the commercial sound of the day. SECOND SIGHTING would prove to be Howarth's last album with the band and new drummer Jamie Oldaker's one and only appearance on a Frehley record.
