I was expecting a slick, high-tech thriller with this movie but I was very disappointed. Most of my disappointment comes from Harrison Ford's performance - which was very surprising since he's been so good in other movies. If this movie had taken more of a high tech angle with the plot rather than resorting to yet another throw-someone-through-a-breakaway-movie-window fight scene, then I would have given it higher marks. Let's face it: Ford is just too old to be in an action movie like this. I found some scenes laughable as his character huffed and puffed across a rooftop or down a hallway in a half-limp, half-run that had me wanting to help him rest for a minute.... Not exactly edge-of-your-seat material. And to expect that a computer geek business man could be the victor in a fist fight against a professional master criminal half his age..... that was a little too much for me to believe, even if you allow room for some suspension of disbelief to accept hollywood's review of reality. If you want to see this movie, just rent it - don't buy it like I did.Read full review
This is a pretty good movie. Violent in spots. I currently also have the DVD format. The clarity is pretty good in my Samsung, 480 to 1080 up-converter DVD player. There are other HD-DVD and DVD movies Iof the same movies have, and the up-converter does a very good job on all the DVD movies I have. While the sound of the Bourne Identity series, World Trade Center, Pride & Prejudice is greatly improved in the HD-DVD format and player, the picture quality is only slightly improved. This particular movie has a noticeable improvement in both the Definition and Sound of the HD-DVD format more than the other movies. As far as the movie is concerned it has a very interesting plot, is written well and the acting is very good. Now, I am a prude, and I would not recommend this for a teenager under 16 to see, but there is no sex and very little swearing. Some movies nowadays like Argo, Zero Dark Thirty, etc. throw in way too many swear words and it detracts from the acting of the movie making it less believable to me. I would put Harrison Ford's acting in this movie on par with the rest of his movies, he is a very good actor. Star Wars, The Indiana Jones, The Witness, Frantic, The Fugitive, (like what movie is acted better than that one?). Suspense, Murder, Some Gore are what I would be concerned with, maybe I would rate it an R for those reasons, then again, I am a prude and would rate many movies that are PG-13 as R. To give you an idea I bought the new Battlestar Galactica T.V. Series and decided to throw it away due to the sex...prude!Read full review
I bought this on dvd and was a little disappointed. It was a good story about (basically) a bank robbery for $100,000,000. But, instead of an actual heist, it's done by electronic transfer and the internet. Harrison Ford plays Jack, the guy in charge of the computer/account security for a bunch of banks. His family gets kidnapped and he is forced to help the robbers. The movie is OK but nothing special. If you like Harrison Ford, you will probably like this film. But, don't expect the quality or entertainment value you get when Ford played The Fugitive, Indiana Jones, or Han Solo. This movie could of been better. Ocean's Eleven was a better heist movie.
An outgoing technology, but with both HD-DVD and DVD this protect will have an extended life, with the benefit of an excellent picture at a very low price. Wish that the Blu-Ray pundits were as innovative with a Blu-Ray/DVD combo, DIFFERENT than the current method of separate discs. Warner promised in January of having the Blu-Ray/DVD combo format for all of their new releases. Hasn't happened yet.
I enjoyed it. It stars Harrison Ford as the main character and As compared to the usual rubbish that comes out it ranks pretty high. I am sure you husband will enjoy it as it is fast paced. Don't forget to put the children to sleep before you put this DVD in, its really not for the kids.
