Additional information
BLUES FOR GREENY is a collection of songs performed by Moore in honor of guitarist Peter Green. Personnel includes: Gary Moore (guitar, vocals); Nick Pentelow (tenor saxophone); Nick Payn (baritone saxophone); Tommy Eyre (keyboards); Andy Pyle (bass); Graham Walker (drums); Gavin Wright. Includes liner notes by Gary Moore. Over the years, Irish guitarist Gary Moore has played everything from hard rock to fusion, but one of his first loves was blues. Moore was mentored and inspired by legendary British guitarist Peter Green, founder of Fleetwood Mac (in their original blues-rock incarnation). BLUES FOR GREENY is his tribute to Green, and it finds Moore lending his distinctive fretwork to a batch of tunes from Green's Mac days. Rather than try to duplicate Green's unique style, Moore makes the tunes his own, but for most of the album the famed shredmaster is more restrained than usual. Undoubtedly a sign of respect for Green, this sonic understatement serves the tunes perfectly, and makes BLUES FOR GREENY one of Moore's most musically successful solo efforts.
