Features and performance exceeded my expectations. Minor issue is the noise of he cooling fan for the hot swap position It is a 1"" high speed, high velocity fan The slot contains an SSD and does not restrict the air flow of the 1"" fan. Since the SSD does not generate much heat, I may try disconnecting the fan or finding some way to restrict the air flow.

I have had about 15 of the Z210s, a predecessor to the Z240. The 210s are getting old and slowly beginning to fail but they have been far superior to consumer-grade PCs that seem to last about 2 1/2 years instead of about 10 years for the commercial grade Z series computers. So I have begun to change out the Z210s for Z240s. These are smaller, lighter and have cases with handles to make lifting a lot easier. I only have three of this series so far but haven't given me any trouble. I thought about going with the Z440 but these are designed to boot off the motherboard mounted m.1 SSD and after 2 months of trying, I couldn't figure out how to get a RAID 1 boot to conventional SSDs. In my informal trials, a decent SSD is just as fast (or close enough) to the m.1 PCIe drive. I have no such problems with the Z240s. I now have a couple of i7s and one i5. The i5 seems to be OK but will stay with the i7 if the price is close. Not sure what I will do in 5 years when these Z240s began to give me problems but for now these are my newest standard for my office.Read full review
