The 650 is a multi-device controller with a coloured view screen. Logitech uses the concept of "Activities" to group devices, so that you could "Watch a Movie" and control the TV, sound system and Blu-ray player all via this one remote, while leaving any other devices you may have switched off. The 650 is well laid out and has a good number of physical buttons which correspond to commonly used buttons on other remotes. You can re-program any physical button if you want/need to, and you can also create new custom buttons in the view screen to cover any special functions your original remote may have had. You program the 650 using Logitech software you download. You need a PC/laptop/MAC with a USB slot to plug in the 650 for programming. The software needs only a small learning curve to use effectively, and once you understand Activities and some user interface elements you will find it flexible and easy to use. Logitech have a HUGE library of devices, and you can select your brand and model from a list, which then gives you access to all functions of the corresponding remote and even will pre-program some buttons of the 650 depending on use. Programming buttons manually is mostly "drag-and-drop", and you have some advanced techniques available like setting delays and extended commands if required. If you have a very unique device and it is not in the Logitech library, the 650 also can 'learn' any remote's commands so you won't be stuck with a device it cannot control. This is our third 650. From a quality point-of-view, for us the unit lasts about 2 years before one (or more) of the buttons fail to respond (usually the on/off switch). We haven't had any other issues. The only small issue we have is that you can't sort Activities on the view screen (you can with some other Logitech remotes like the Harmony One). If you have more than two Activities, the third will appear on a second screen where you need to press a button to see. If you happen to use this Activity fairly frequently and it appears on the second screen, you can't move it to the first, which is annoying. However you can assign an Activity to some of the unique Activity buttons at the top of the remote to get around this. I would recommend the 650 as a competent controller of multiple devices. I gave 4 stars out of 5, as although 2 years is a reasonable longevity I feel the buttons could be a higher quality to last longer.Read full review

Setting up the remote is very straight forward & easy compared to some brands. Preset functions are good but being able to adapt th to your liking it even better. This is my second one, first one lasted 5 years & only died becausey baby daughter decided to drop the remote in the toilet.

Upgraded from an earlier model 650 so all the buttons and functions laid out exactly the same; a win not having to learn a new remote. Also the programming via an app is a boon with easy to follow instructions. At the end of the day everything works at the touch of one button; both on and off. Hope it lives for many years.

Fits perfectly and it really protects the remote you can even change its batteries without having to remove the entire cover. I seriously recommend this product.

God rid of 4 of my remote controls. Wife was complaining about having too many remotes. After purchasing logitech harmony 650, that made life easier with just one push of a button would turn on all my devices and set them to the correct input, without having to toggle between remotes which confused my wife
