|Oscar nominees Nick Nolte and Susan Sarandon star in this powerful and unforgettable drama based on a true story. The sobering news that their five year-old son, Lorenzo, has a rare terminal disease, marks the beginning of an extraordinary mission for Augusto and Michaela Odone (Nolte and Sarandon) Despite the prognosis, the Odones set out to save their child, colliding with doctors, scientists and support groups who are reluctant to encourage the couple in their quest for a cure. Their relentless struggle tests the strength of their marriage, the depth of their beliefs, and the boundaries of conventional medicine. Nolte and Sarandon deliver exceptional performances as the loving and determined parents who bring hope to many in this critically-acclaimed hit from director George Miller.|

True life stories are usually the best.
It is a very powerful story about the people whose son got deadly genetic illness and didn't have chance to survive. Their life become incredible struggle to find cure and save him. The law was not on their side, no one believed in their success, but their persistence, and love had succeeded in what medicine could not and they found medicine, saved their son and helped thousands of other boys who (thanks to the medicine they invented) never got sick. The boy's father received the honorary doctor's award.
