I recently purchased the Mackie Pro fx16. When I first turned it on I treated it like all the other Mac keyboards that I purchased over the years. I expected a couple of button pushes hit everything would be running. No actually had to read the instructions and now it is running optimally. There's a bit of a learning curve but not that much. The equipment is built like everything else I've ever owned for Mackie. And that is like a tank. I look forward to years of trouble-free service from this new soundboard.

Choosing between the FX12v2 and FX16v2. You have to decide how many XLR inputs you will need. How many compressors you will need. If you need the fourth EQ sweepable knob and if you want to see which channels are muted. Overall, I will be using this 16v2 way more than the 1604VLZ4 because it is lighter, smaller and much more friendly to my arms and back. My clients will never know the difference. All three boards sounds great. The difference is for the sound tech person. If you need more volume, then the 1604VLZ4 is for you -unless you plan on bringing additional amps-. If you're responsible for a laptop for sound/music and a few mics for the MC or Keynote speaker to talk & the person talking is not COMPETING with live music blasting at the same time then you could get away with the Fx12V2 &/or Fx16V2.Read full review
