I always loved this show in the 70's but 50 years later, I can see how much it dealt with the social and political issues of the day. To me, that makes it interesting, not just entertaining. The only thing I wish were different is all the loud arguing and shouting that Maude does with Walter. I find it a little over the top but that's by today's standards, I guess.

Maude:(refering to FDR) That man had charisma! Archie:I can't help it the man was sick! A discussion Maude, Edith Bunker's cousin was having with Archie on an early episode of ALL IN THE FAMILY. Though it seems dated today, Maude was yet another of Norman Lear's groundbreaking shows. I feel that Bea Arthur really flowered later on in the GOLDEN GIRLS along with castmember Rue McClannahan. I watched Maude each week but I wonder now if I would. Seemed a bit dull. I do recommend the DVD collection and look forward to season two IF it becomes available. I do not feel I would go too far beyond buying any seasons beyond the first two.
Dvd is of awesome quality. No problems at all. All scenes are clear, clear sound. I will order from the company again.

Even though l'm writting a review before the official release of the first season of "Maude", l am glad to see this is finally becoming available to the DVD market. lt's very much like the "All in the Family" sitcom. The setting again is mostly in a house, surrounding a family and regular guest that don't seem to find much trouble to argue about something or anything for that matter. Probably the most repeated phrase in the series may well be "God will get you for that" from Maude herself, played by Bea Arthur. lf you like these classic shows like, All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Good Times, Sanford and Son, then Maude will be definately for you. Great TV comedy from the classic 1970's !! Enjoy !!
Bea Arthur is awesome!!!! From Maude to The Golden Girls, her characters are classic. She can just make you laugh with her facial expressions. She dosen't need to say a word. Her relationship with Florida Evans (Good Times) is priceless. I recommend this series highly!!! Now that I'm older, I get more of the jokes and love her saying, "God'll get you for that, Walter!" My nieces that are 12 & 15 just love it too.
