This is actually a really nice locomotive. Once you break it in. What is going on is the wheels are blackened to include where they make track contact. So I recommend if you have a locomotive cleaner run the engine on that to wear off the blackening. Once done it runs and sounds great. If you don't have a cleaner put on a small circle and just let it run for an hour or so like others have mentioned. Hope this helps. I know it did with mine.

This engine stalls out of the box. It takes about an hour of pushing around the track forwards and backwards, before it gets loosened up and starts working. I would also lube it and reset the decoder. Once you do this its a fantastic engine.
