Router was purchased refurbished at very low price to eliminate my normal one as possible cause of low speeds (it wasn't). This one easy to set up with manual included in user interface. Few advanced options but did the job fine.

I eagerly open my new router, first impressions were good. It looks quite smart in its black casing. I popped in the CD to install it... the CD got so far through then stopped working?! I tried it again and same thing happened.... It kept saying it was for a DGN1000 or above, which was strange as this was the one i had bought and had come with the router. I then tried to set it up as per the instructions on their website and this didnt work either! Every time I tried to set it up it lost the connection to the internet... I spoke to my ISP (sky) who told me that only THEIR routers work on their lines. I sent it back but have since found out that it is possible to download some software to pull your details off your old router to put on this one.... Overall I didn't find this very easy to set up (despite needing the extra piece of software to set it up with SKY) and feel there are probably better products out there.Read full review
My 2nd 3Com in 3 years failed. This was a cheap alternative. Smaller, prettier and appears to work well. Lacks some features of the 3Com but my internet speeds have now recovered to mainly what they were so it did the job. It seems to need rather regular reboots. I may not have totally sussed the settings so that may be me rather than the machine. We'll see. Quick to set up
Like another reviewer, I found this Router slower than previous model, and also experience frequent loss of connection and very slow speeds (down to 0.16Mbps on Broadband!!) despite hard wired ethernet connection to PC. I too am extremely disappointed, and only bought this because ISP Talktalk provided model does not support Bonjour - required for wireless printing from iPad etc. I have also learned that Talktalk have just stopped providing technical support for their service where Netgear Router is used.
I wished to get a better and more consistent wireless signal within my house. The router purchased gave no noticeable improvement on that of my original one supplied by my ISP(Netgear DG834G v3). I considered purchasing a range extending antenna but discovered that the antenna on the DGN1000 isn't removable so that is not an option.
