Purchased a Shun Classic Chef knife not long ago Seems to be well made and very sharp but has one flaw which I have found and have had pointed out to me by a Japanese knife shop That is that it is quite common to have a small chip occur when using knife as the blade can be a little bit brittle When resharpening the knife I have increased the angle to 15 degree's and this seems to have fixed the problem and I can't notice any difference in knife performance And no I don't abuse the knife and try to cut through bones or very hard objects Overall I think the knife is still very good to use just increase the edge angle a little to ensure you don't damage the blade.
