This is a pretty good controller for the Maschine software. It focuses more on the sequencing side of it, where as Mk2 / studio are more all round controllers. So this makes it easy to work in step mode, change patterns on the fly. You know, to jam. This is good because the sequencer is Maschine's biggest strength. There are a few problems though. For instance, you can't select an event in the sequence from the Jam controller itself, you have to use the mouse, which is simply baffling. This comes into its own as a multifunction controller. The template for Ableton is fantastic and it costs less than half of what a Push costs. There is a forthcoming Reaktor template (HURRY UP AND PUT IT OUT) that will be an absolute killer. So a great controller that is limited by its software, but is nonetheless great bang for buck.Read full review

This controller has many features. If you are looking to create multiple intricate drum progressions this will definitely do the job. The touch-strips are also an amazing new feature that lets you play your sounds in a creative way and this controller makes it easy to navigate through your groups and scenes as the layout is pretty simple to understand, especially if you've used other similar controllers on the market. The biggest con would be the loss of velocity sensitive pads but combined with the MK2/Studio this isn't a problem. If you've previously bought a lot of the Komplete library and you love your Maschine the Jam will speed up your workflow so you won't have to navigate through the layers of Maschine and makes it a proper instrument you can really Jam on. I would really recommend that you get your hands on it and give it a go.Read full review
