Bought this as a replacement for a Netgear WNR2000. That router was only capable of 10/100 speeds. The WNDR4300 has full Gigabit speeds. User interface uses the standard NETGEAR Genie firmware interface like most of their routers so it is very easy to configure. A fast basic mid-range router.

The WNDR4500 has a good combination of hardware components. I cannot say anything about the Netgear firmware that runs on it as I immediately replace it with FreshTomato. V2 is the best iteration of this model. Lots of storage space for the firmware file, operating memory, and ample nvram for storing vpn keys. 600MHz processor and strong 2.4 and 5GHz radios make this router a winner.

I like that it has both 2.4 & 5Ghz wireless. Solid router functionality.

I use this router to support an extra WiFi network within my home to supply TV programs to several computers located in the various rooms in the house. It worked right out of the box and worked immediately as an almost plug-and-play interface between the decoder fed by my powered TV antenna and the computers connected to the WiFi network.

Router works great and is very useful. It may not be the best choice if you want to do an OpenVPN connection as the processor will not allow faster than about 8mbps.
