This is a replacement of the same lens that I had for quite a long time, and which just went on me, as I could not move the zoom after a while. I like the range on this lens the 28 to 300. Probably one could get a sharper lens which would be both sharper and would have greater depth of field, but that probably would be a lot more money. I was watching some of Scott Kelby’s vacation videos on YouTube, and he says, when he goes on vacation, that he only takes a full frame camera, and I believe this lens type the 28-300, and with that he can take all the pictures that he wants, and does not have to take boxes and boxes of lenses with him on vacation. I have 3 of his books on Photoshop, and he is a big person in Photoshop and photography, so I listen to what he says. His walk through videos are interesting (at least to me); they are his vacations in Paris, Prague, Rome, etc. You have to make do with what you got in Photography and probably in everything else in live. Right now, I am just take pictures of historical picture presentations that they have in YouTube compilations. I have the camera set to sensitivity mode, where I set the ISO, and the camera may set the shutter and aperature related to the ISO setting. It probably is not the best way to see how the lens can do, but for me, that is what I am doing… GHP Read full review

After using it for a month I can say that it's the best lens I ever had. Images are sharp even with maximum focal length. The bokeh is perfect. It's a lot better than 18-55mm kit lens of Pentax with cheaper price. Highly recommended.

Contrary to a previous opinion, the proof of the puddin' is in the eatin', so let's begin by saying this lens takes one heck of a picture for so inexpensive a lens and even for one significantly more expensive. The attractive non-glare finish is relished by pros and the 19oz.+ weight gives verity to the 14 GLASS elements within. The mount(very important)is metal unlike most of the flimsy "kit" lenses with plastic mounts. Then add 1:2 in macro without adapters, and, 0h yeh,it works perfectly auto on my Pentax dslr. And then, consider the price!
Best lens you can buy without breaking the bank.

Did not work as stated with my pentax camera. Should have done more research before my purchase. This item feels very cheaply made and not a good value for what I paid. It was purchased for my wife's birthday and she was not impressed.
