This chimney is the right size for my small hibachi. I used it last week camping and it worked great. I filled the underside with cardboard from an egg carton. Had hot coals in about 10 minutes and less ash fly off than newspaper. It seems well constructed and sturdy, looks like it will survive much longer than my cheap hibachi.

I wanted to use this for my small char-grill barrel from Wally World and get away from using lighter fluid. It's really built well and arrived on time and well packaged. Directions were easy and straightforward, stuff newspaper in the bottom, fill the top with brickettes, and light, 15-20 minutes later the charcoal was ready to go. 2 problems I had were even for that small grill it doesn't hold enough for full direct heat cooking, maybe for 50/50 would be ok. Other problem I had was the handle got very hot. I have a full size chimney starter and even when chuck full of lump coal (which burns hotter) I can use my bare hand to pick it up and dump it out. As far as the value goes, this little guy cost more than my full sized chimney.

We under estimated the size thought it would be plenty of space inside to fill in the charcoals but turn out not enoughy charcoals for avg size grill cooking. I had to prep the charcoals again after the first batch were placed inside the grill. We goan have to buy another weber chimney the large or regular size to fill in more charcoals to ligjt up. So dont buy this compact size !!get a large one!!

My bad for not paying full attn and ordering the small size. This is not the size to get for home barbecuing, fits only a small amount of charcoal after you load in your starter newspaper. Maybe good for starting small campfires? Maybe overkill for starting small campfires?

It also works very well with starter coals for the "Snake" method on the bigger 22" & 26" kettles.I have the full-sized but ordered this one for smaller starter fires with just a few coals. The big one doesn't do those well.
