Olympus PEN Cameras

Olympus PEN mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras are designed to provide serious photographic capabilities in compact, portable packages. Combined with advanced Olympus M.Zuiko lenses, they can help you to realise your creative vision in any type of photography.

The PEN Series

The first Olympus PEN cameras were made between 1959 and the start of the 1980s, and were primarily compact film cameras. In 2009 they revitalised the PEN series for the digital photography age by releasing the PEN E-P1, the first of a new family of compact digital PEN cameras based on the original film PEN designs. This new PEN series is made up of mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras in the Micro Four Thirds sensor format, equipped with the Micro Four Thirds lens mount.

PEN E-P Cameras

Most cameras within the modern range of PEN bodies have been part of the E-P series, including the lightweight E-PL cameras and the extra-compact E-PM. The E-PL7 and E-PL8 in particular were designed to be stylish as well as high-performing, fitted with leather-look half-coating and compatible with Olympus' specially designed handbag-like leather cases. The E-PL8 is also set up to be selfie-friendly, with a flip-down touchscreen that makes it easy to use the camera while the lens is pointed towards you. It is capable of taking both selfie stills and selfie video, and also comes with a range of in-camera filters. Its built-in WiFi allows you to transfer shots to your smartphone for immediate uploading to social media. It features a 16.1 megapixel Micro Four-Thirds sensor and three-axis image stabilisation for reducing motion blur at slower shutter speeds.

Olympus PEN-F

The Olympus PEN-F is a rangefinder-style mirrorless camera and the successor to the PEN E-P5. It is built for higher photographic performance than the E-PL series, and features a higher-resolution 20.3 megapixel Micro Four-Thirds sensor and an improved five-axis in-body image stabilisation system. While it doesn't include all of the E-PL8's selfie-friendly features, it is equipped with a 2.36 million dot electronic viewfinder for a more SLR-like experience. In addition to the Art Filters found on the E-PL cameras, a dial on the front of the camera allows you to quickly switch between regular colour, monochrome and customisable colour profile modes.

Olympus M.Zuiko Lenses

Olympus Micro Four Thirds cameras like their PEN body series are designed to be used with the M.Zuiko line of Olympus camera lenses. This extensive range includes standard M.Zuiko lenses, the M.Zuiko Premium series of high-quality prime lenses and the M.Zuiko Pro line aimed at professional photographers. The M.Zuiko lineup includes lenses for any type of photography. It includes everything from ultra-wide lenses like the M.Zuiko Digital ED 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO to long-range telephoto lenses like the M.Zuiko Digital ED 300mm f/4.0 IS PRO, as well as more specialised types such as fisheyes and macro lenses.
