This rock crawler is a fair entry level crawler. The radio system is very fragile and does not fair well in shipping at times. As far as a general use r/c car it is ok but don't expect it to be like a monster truck.

I had done a lot of research prior to buying this little truck. I can say that I have been very please with it's performance. Just like any "ready to run" vehicle, there are some things that need to be upgraded before any hardcore use. However, in fully stock trim, this truck is still a beast, and is very capable of providing much more fun than frustration. The radio works great and is very easy to adjust and cycle between the four wheel steering modes. The throttle control is easy to finesse, and the steering response is precise. Out of the box, the first thing I noticed was that the truck feels like a tank! The chassis is solid, and all parts have excellent fit and finish. I was able to impress myself with the things this truck could do, bone stock. As for upgrades, I did switch out the front servo to one with much higher torque and added some lead weight to the front axle. This helps steering and helps to keep the front end planted during steep climbs. I will be replacing the rear servo later as well. I also ordered the 8-tooth pinion to lower the gearing just a little more. You don't need top speed, you need brute power. the 8-tooth pinion did not turn it into a 1200hp monster, but it sure does help. The truck will sometimes bind up and refuse to move if put into very tight situations, like falling in between big rocks and trying to get it to unwedge itself. It just does not have that kind of power. Bottom line, it is a great investment and far superior to anything else within $50 of it's price range. There is parts support and lots of information in forums online to help you along should you need it. Thank you Redcat, for providing a great little truck!Read full review
I believe the rig is a pretty good truck. The servos are weak and the body sucks easily scratches. the battery hold down could use some attention from the manufacture but other than those few things its a good rig, My dad & I call it no problem cuz after adding a little weight to the front and rear wheel it goes just about any were we point it with no problem. Our over all opinion is good the pretty good . Just fix those minor problem and it would be even better., and you cant really beat the price for what your getting. We are thinking about buying another one cuz we fight over who is going to drive it.
This is a great crawler for beginners and experts.I have had several, like the Axail`s and with a few upgrades it is as good as the high priced ones. You can trick it out with all the upgrades for around $200 total cost which is a fraction of the popular brands.1st thing I recommend is the 6T pinions($6) these are geared too high new and this will save your motors and give it more torqe.I also did motor heat sinks($5 ea),steel gears($14),hardened drive pins($5),softer crawler tires($25), weighted the front tires and front axle($6),heavy duty servos($12ea),and installed a 3000mah battery. It will out crawl the best of them now and it is way more maneuverable with the 4 wheel steering!Don`t get me wrong, you don`t have to do these things, just replace things as you go or as they break, but do the motor pinions 1st. Buy one you will love it!I have never had a problem with the electronics and I beat the crap outta this thing.BTW I`m 44 yrs old and I still like to play.Read full review
