Comfortable shooting protection
I found these to provide adequate protection when shooting pistols at the range. They are much more comfortable than earmuff type protectors and are much easier to shoot rifles in. The batteries lasted about 4 or 5 days of all day shooting at the range. They gave warning beeps when they needed to be replaced. All in all, I was pleased with them. Being able to turn them off is a big plus.

Not as sound deadening as electronic ear muffs
As a firearms instructor and hunter, I need to protect my hearing as everyone else but a recent "injury" to my hearing, unrelated to these activities, made it even more necessary to take actions beyond wearing the electronic earmuffs I normally wear, or so I thought. While the electronic earmuffs worked well at the range during instruction, they were cumbersome during hunting. Normally, during hunting, I did not wear much protection at all so I could hear game approach. My recent injury made it painful, and further injured my hearing, to hunt/shoot without protection. I bought these Ear Buds to solve the hunting problem and to use during instruction, thinking they would work equally as well as muffs and be more convenient. While wearing the buds I can hear voices without problems but they do not fit tightly and deeply enough into the ear canal to really sufficiently block out the sound of shots. I have tried all the optional ear bud ends (3 sizes) provided with the unit but none effectively close off the ear canal enough to insure that the full effect of the sound of the shot is channeled through the electronics to fully deaden the shot sound. At this point, I'm planning to have a custom set of ear canal plugs made and then drill a small hole in them to insert the ear bud's tube so I can replace the provided ear bud ends. In this way I hope to be able to completely block the sound of the shot by eliminating the sound waves from going "around" the supplied ear bud ends and letting the electronics do their job more effectively. These might be fine, as is, for people without existing hearing problems planning to use them during hunting, however, if you have a problem, these won't work equal to electronic ear muffs, especially at the range. That's why I would not recommend them to those who have issues as I do or are expecting to get equal or better performance than electronic ear muffs which cost significantly less.

Not what was advertised
I bought these to help me at the range, and in the field. They claimed to have "full range" speakers. These ear buds pick up absolutely no bass at all. They claim to amplify hearing 5 times. They do not. And they have a constant hiss to them when turned on at any volume level. It is even present at the lowest volume setting. You can hear high pitched sounds. Like something walking in the leaves, and even mid tones such as voices. But absolutely no low frequency sound. I watched a video of turkeys strutting. I could hear the spit and drum with my naked ears. All i could hear with the earbuds on was a portion of the spit, and not one bit of the drum. For the range these would be great. They work for conversations. But they are not "full range". That advertisement and the 5x hearing increase is why i bought them. The batteries did last a long time, 4 days to be exact, being turned off and on trying them out in different locations. The woods, back yard, house, and while shooting. So at least that part was true. Bottom line, if you want them for hunting, get something else. All i got was an expensive set of ear plugs that i can't return. At least i will look cool at the range.

Great features that no others have !!!
No other comparable brands near this price range have the on and off switch! I am still on my first set of batteries 2 weeks later, because you can turn them off ! The volume control is easy to use. I will be getting these for other family member for shooting and just to improve your hearing during lectures and outdoors activities.

Suppresses 12 and 20 gauge report significantly.
Shuts down the sound of the report significantly. I'm not an scientist but I can still hear. Problem: Batteries don't last long. I think the claim of 80 hours must begin when you first put the batteries in the units. It doesn't matter whether they are on or off. (Much like hearing aids.) When I needed them most for my field test to get my hunting license, the battery in the right ear failed. My shooting ear of course. I would chalk this up to 'user error'. I should have put in new set of batteries before trekking out into the wild.
