My 16 year old $475.00 Pioneer receiver finally shot craps so I had to find a replacement.Looked at Pioneer again but they were a little too high for me this time. I settled on the Yamaha RX 373 and I think it's great. As good of a sound as the Pioneer at 1/2 the price.I'm running a JBL surround system from it and the "Enhancer" it has on it really gives it an extra bass kick on top of the sub-woofer I use. Too early to tell the longevity of it but I can tell you it's well worth the money for the sound you get. My neighbor already wants one after hearing mine. Bob U Lake Of The Ozarks, Mo.
I bought this Yamaha Receiver as part of a home theater package. the YHT-497. The sound quality is very good. Yamaha has always made quality receivers with excellent sound quality . But,keep in mind this is a 5.1 channel receiver. with 4 HDMI inputs. Also the video quality via the HDMI is excellent. You cannot go wrong with this receiver at this price and with Yamaha quality!
Awesome sound quality, but difficult to figure out what the buttons on the remote do.

I bought this to replace one that got zapped in an electrical storm. I did have a surge suppressor, but I am puchasing a better one. The Yamaha RX V373 has many good features for the price. Sound quality is excellent over a wide choice of operating modes. It drives a 5.1 surround sound system. It has multiple HDMI capability. It has a very good reliability record, and it is attractive. So far, so good!
This is the second of this model I have had [after a lightning strike]. It perfectly fits the needs of controlling a tape deck, cable tuner, xbox, and Blu-ray. The suround sound is excellent and it will pass through 3D or Blu-ray to a projector on my home theater.
