It works! You'll get significantly better sound using this mic, compared to the standard PC/smartphone/tablet mic can offer. Quite easy to set up and use, even with a basic Samsung tablet. We have used it at home with a Lenovo notebook, Samsung tablets and smartphones. Works best when it's possible to use with the USB jack. With the 3.5mm jack, you have to manually set the sound output on your device from the headphone jack (the device does so automatically since the 3.5mm jack is put in use) to the device speaker. That was the case with Skype on the tablets - not sure how that will go with other software and device combinations. All in all we're very happy with it, and so are the kids' music teachers on the other side because the sound is so much better.

I wanted a microphone for youtube videos at first, so I didn’t want anything expensive. After I had bought it, I decided to buy a professional condenser mic for both broadcasting and singing instead, gave this to my daughter who loves it! The sound is easily distorted and more on the bright side. There is a LOT of clipping, so I suggest to purchase a pop filter for it, otherwise you will run your video back, watch it, only to find that the audio dropped out briefly more than a few times due to clipping. Yes, this also happens when you’re not too close to the mic. If you just want to use it for Youtube, I guess it could work… but you’ll need to set it up in a way where it’s not too close to your mouth but still be able to hear you speak. My trick is to turn it to its side and move my mouth slightly to the side, so that my breath isn’t directly on it. This will not work for Garage Band or Band Lab. The sound is just not clear enough and there is a lot of white noise feedback in my headphones. Definitely not for professional use. Can be used on Smule, as long as volume is not so loud or you’ll pierce your ears with feedback. Regardless, my Daughter uses this for her Ipad home videos and she’s enjoying it. As a singer, I have gone for the Rode NT1a kit, due to it’s brighter sound and it just goes better with my own vocals. Read full review
