I have owned all technics hi fi products since the 1980s and they are still in good working order now the build quality is top drawer and you will have problems getting the same quality today unless you are willing to pay thousands of pounds for a new a system .the 800 amp is the poor relation to the 900 but having owned the 900 I was unable to find any major difference between them .this is a well-priced item and the new owner should be very happy .you can even use the amplifier with new technology .i have my brand new TV linked through the amplifier to my virgin box and DVD player so have had sound going through my 4 bose speakers using the auxiliary output on the amplifier .if yours looking for a quality amplifier the 800 or the 900 are the ones to go for

I have really put this amp to the test for the last 14 years and it's still going strong! It's been powering 4 x Jamo 115W speakers, two on each left/right channel connected in series for extra volume. They've gotten me kicked out of a few apartments for noise pollution, but other than that this amp is one of the best peices of electronics I've ever bought. It has built in fan that only comes on when it's been on full power for several hours and is not noticable as you would have to have it really cranked up for it to come on. Once or twice the auto shutoff feature was activated. This only occurred one night in a very small unventilated room rammed full of people, when some drunken idiot kept putting the volume to max so the speakers were completely distorting. It has lots of other neat little features including an "R" shaped transformer to eliminate hum coming from it and a delay on switching to speakers on power up to avoid that potentilly damaging pop speakers may receive on power up. And of course it has a great and quite flat sound!Read full review
