Despite being a 15 year old model the Canon 20D takes excellent photos and has a comprehensive set of adjustments to be versatile in manual mode as well as a well set-up array of basic modes for taking hassle-free portraits, sports shots etc. The 18-55 kit lens is reasonably good with accurate autofocus and the ability to use old M42 fit lens along with £5 adaptors which facilitate 'focus confirm' is a real bonus. A great way to get into DSLR photography on the cheap!

It is a great camera for the price. I bought it for £199.99. After I buying it I thought that it worth eve if I pay £250 for it. I recommend a 20D than any 300D, 350D or even 400D (Low end cameras). Because the 20D is a mid-range camera which comes with a better built quality (I think the body is made of metal). And have more advanced specifications.-------------------------------------------------------------- The major advantages of the 20D are the 1/8000s shutter speed, the larger sensor and high ISO.-------------------------------------------------------------- EOS 20D VS EOS 350D: (http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon_EOS_20D-vs-Canon_EOS_350D )-------------------------------------------------------------- EOS 20D VS EOS 400D: (http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon_EOS_20D-vs-Canon_EOS_400D )-------------------------------------------------------------- the sharpness of the picture was far better than the same photo taken using a 350D. Hope this helps...Read full review
With Canon constantly bringing out new bodies this leaves the 20D to appear as quite an old one. Yes, it may be a few years out of date but the potential and quality is still up there with the cameras of 2011 and the future. Megapixels don't really matter unless your doing some serious cropping so the average 8.5MP isn't a problem, the picture quality is great. There's a wide range of shutter speeds, from very very slow to very fast ( up to 1/8000th ) which alows this camera to be capable of being used for many different types of photography. In my opinion it is well equipped for the likes of sport, motorsport etc due to its capability to freeze motion without blur as a result of this great shutter speed range. ISO ranges from 100 to 1600 which i find to be just enough, however, i would prefer to have the choice of up to 3200 - but for an older camera at the cheap price it's not an issue to be worried about. As i have already said, the 20D is an older canon model and so lacks your modern features that you see on the newer versions. Don't be put off by it's lack of features and functions - any image can be created from this camera - it just takes a little more skill ( which makes you a better photographer in the long term! ). So it's a win situation. In terms of size i find it great. You look the real deal with your proper DSLR which appears quite big but could be made even bigger by adding a grip. The LCD screen at the back is perhaps a little smaller than most DSLR's but who really cares - it's only used for a quick check of the image you took and for adjusting settings. Value for money , at this present time has to be a 5/5. You should pay around £200 for a decent second hand one, and for that money the quality you get is fantastic. You'll easily be competing with those fly guys who spend £wxyz on the camera body ( as long as you get good enough ). DSLR is mainly about the glass you have(lens), so an older body like the 20D isn't an issue. Stick some decent lenses on this and you'll be laughing. I don't really have much more to say about this camera, it's great for the price you'll pay and you will not be dissapointed.Read full review
I've just received the camera and downloaded the operators manual and have found the camera easy to operate as a novice photographer. I'm extremely pleased with the images produced and the quality of the camera.

The Canon EOS Camera appears to be an excellent SLR, The 20D provides an economic entry point, with a good lens. My first 150 shots have been good, so I will begin to experiment with the range of photo styles, options and settings in the next few weeks. I believe I got the camera at a reasonable price (Under £200) although it is showing its age by modern digital standards, the pictures are sharp and crisp, and colours are good.
No issues, ideal present for someone new to camera's, great Christmas gift

The Canon 20D may be getting on a bit now,but still takes photographs that many of today's cameras would be proud of. Yes- it doesn't shoot video-HD or otherwise- it may only have a small screen and it doesn't have a sensor cleaning system on board. But hey, cleaning a sensor once in a blue moon isn't too much of a bind! The bottom line is that this is a camera which takes superb quality stills, with a good dynamic range and excellent noise control(still one of the best in this area!)and shoots at 5 frames per second! It is also extremely well built and should take years of hard use. Much like it's little brother, the 350D,I cannot recommend it highly enough and when one considers what you can pick them up for on ebay, they're a steal! Of course you could pay 3-4x as much for a new "mid range" camera, which may have a better spec on paper- but it won't be as well made and I'd be surprised if it takes a better picture- also remember what these 20D's cost new.....!Read full review
I needed a camera that was easy to use and cheap to have developed for my course at college. This camera did all that I needed and more, so much so that I have not put it down since I received it.Find that I cannot do without it now on my course so much so that my classmates want to borrow it to complete their work load.
