A combination of nostalgia and memory lead me to seek this out. While it is unfortunate that some episodes only exist in black and white (I wonder if they were sourced from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation who did broadcast in B&W during the early series) - they fulfil all my ambitions. It was actually brought to mind by Stephen Fry's comments about them in his books!

Perfectionists beware, this is far from a "Complete Collection." As per IMDb (ID: tt0065296), it's missing 8 episodes in-all, including the originally screened version of "Kitten Kong" (although the "Montreux edition" is included) and the entire season 9 (comprising 7 episodes), as well as a host of extras which could easily have been packaged, including the documentary/flashback TV Movie "Return of the Goodies" (IMDb ID: tt0756706). This release is certainly better than nothing, I loved The Goodies all those decades ago and loved revisiting my childhood with this collection, it's just a crying shame that a handful of episodes weren't included.

After years of having to make do with random episodes rationed out on DVD, it's great to have all the BBC episodes together. Loved them as a kid and they still appeal now, though some bits don't age well. My only complaint is that for a (relatively expensive) box set, the 'extras' are very light on - there were more special features on the previous (cheaper) DVDs.

At long last the BBC has finally made this material available after nearly 40 years of viewer demand. Unfortunately a small number of episodes are in Black and White because no one bothered to apply the telecine auto-color restore process that was actually developed at the BBC--the grain in these episodes makes it obvious that the color information is embedded and can be computer extrapolated rather than made up by an editor, and other material of similar age has been appropriately restored, so why not these? For those with fond memories of this TV show and it's blatant Political Incorrectness, grab these discs while they are available, just in case it doesn't happen again.

Have always loved the goodies and to finally have them all available on DVD is awesome. The warped sense of humour stands the test of time and is still shed loads better than most modern comedies. If you love comedies like Blackadder, Mr Bean, Monty Phython, Peep Show, the Mighty Boosh, Flight of the Conchords then you'll love the Goodies. It's best watched an episode a night preferably before or after watching an episode of Dr Who.
