Great introduction to Japanese
This book is an updated edition, but the CD/spoken lessons, are not always 100% in-sync with the written pages, but nothing too bad. Working out the couple of discrepancies just means my understanding and retention of the language is increased. I've been mainly listening to the CD to help with the basics of the language and the pronounciation, and I think the learning curve is spot on with this. I found it much easier to learn with this course, than some other Japanese guides. Using the book alongside with the CD is of course, much better than just the CD, but for a quick fix while driving or exercising, the spoken/CD component is very good. Highly recommended.
