The 5 star rating takes into account the price point of the product - I knew I wasn't buying a top of the range machine and adjusted my expectations accordingly.
This was my first foray into robot vacuum cleaners and I was both dubious and hesitant to make this purchase, however, to my great (and very pleasant) surprise, it does exactly what the manufacturer claimed it would do. Set up instructions were clear and connecting it up to my home WiFi through the Ecovacs Home app on my phone (Android) went without a hitch and, within about 20 mins of unpacking, I was happily following it around my house marvelling at its relatively quiet and efficient operation.
I have a short-haired dog and a cat that both shed and on hard wood and tiled floors their hair (and associated dust) tends to drift to the edges, the Deebot's edge cleaning function was ideal and worked as well as I could have hoped. It can get caught up with any trailling cables and a few minutes inattention allowed it into my daughter's room where it promptly tried to eat a discarded sock and chocked a bit on a shoelace but otherwise it has been problem free.
Emptying the dust/hair from the machine was more straightforward than I was expecting - only had to do it once so far, and you will need to check its underside for any long hairs or stray threads choking up the main brush but the supplied tool works well in helping to clear away tangles.
I haven't yet left it to decide when to return to its base for recharging and hope that it won't leave it too late to do so as it takes quite a while (a lot of trial and error) to find its way back 'home' but it does get there eventually!

Cleans pretty well as long as it doesn't have to deal with unexpected surfaces of more than about 2cm as sometimes it gets stuck, sometimes not. Mine ran out of battery before returning to base so some nights we find the floor half done.
the side brushes are already bent and twisted so will likely have to replace them after a about a dozen sweeps. They are not too expensive so it's not a major drama. Purchase them before you need them so you don't have to wait.
I said no to easy clean because it is fiddly. On the other hand the filter system is first class. As far as doing the job it is equal to the way more expensive I-robot at cleaning. This is my 3rd robot cleaner and by far the best. This is an honest review, even though I seem to be over praising it. Yes my first cleaner was an I-Robot, so I have a true comparison. Is doesn't have the electronic walls, so I lay a chair down on its side. Does the job. I have had it not go back to base, but I had the base in an awkward spot maybe. All the same, the room was finished. Always start with a full charge. Regular use since early this year and still on all original filters, brushes etc. I did get a full set of replacements on hand.
Basic unit, but very easy to use and does a great job, gets around all the rooms and copes with all the obstacles in my less than perfect house. Really pleased - I let it run a couple of times a week and it keeps on top of the daily dirt, even with four cats in the house. If you like to vacuum your house thoroughly more than once a week, it might not be up to your standard, but if you hate vacuuming, or have physical issues than make it hard for you, this is brilliant.
It’s a great robot vacuum! My first one, easy to use and has been vacuuming my floorboards for about 3 months now.
I found out the hard way if something gets stuck in the robot please don’t stress like I did. A little ball my cat plays with got stuck and I thought the battery in robot was stuffed because it would only operate for 2 minutes. No it wasn’t a problem with the battery. The engine shuts down if something is caught in the robot. Just open up the dustbin and clear any caught items and it will be right as rain!
