Great feel, great headset, just one problem! The x21 wired pair I bought from turtle beach had better sound quality and were louder. These however being more conformable will allow the player to play longer with the headset, but with less power through the audio leads for an crappier experience then I expected. Still a great headset, I DO recommend.

I moved to the X42's from the X31's. I used a very similar setup with the X31's, but figured I'd upgrade due to the heavy interference the X31's experience in a dense urban environment. And that was absolutely accomplished. I still get the occasional static interference, but not nearly as often as with the X31's. As stated, they sound great. But I have some design critiques. The head padding is dense and you can feel the pressure from it after an hour or so. I believe the intention was that they wouldn't rest on the top of your head due to the pressure from the ear cups holding them on. But that is equally annoying and even less effective because they eventually creep down and then you have sore ears and a sore head. The plastic used on these is significantly lower quality than what I had on the X31's. I've had to re-pair(as in pair again) the X42's several times for unknown reasons. The On/Off sequence is via holding the button down for a few seconds instead of just a toggle switch or an instant power on/off system. The effects button does make a noticeable change in audio, but nothing that really makes me prefer one mode over another for games, music, or video. The ear cups are significantly smaller, but not so small that I'd call them on-the-ear. So what's good about them? They have decent range. There's less interference. The mic is very versatile. They do sound good. The tiny turtle beach icon shows when they are on but it's not so bright that it lights up half the room. They don't make noise whenever I turn my head like some headsets with swivel ear cups. They breathe really well to avoid sweaty ear syndrome. They capture sound via an optical sound cord so they can plug into any modern TV or sound system and avoid compatibility issues when switching consoles. THIS IS HUGE for multi-platform gamers. No need to swap wires (except talkback to the controller) when switching consoles. And if you don't need to be heard anyhow, this is invaluable.Read full review

I try to wait a little while before writing reviews so I can give an honest one. These worked great for 4 1/2 months then went to power them on and nothing. The base is still in good working order but the headset itself has no power at all. Tried many different types of batteries and upon researching the issue found this is a common problem that is non repairable. Very disappointed because I have always stood by Turtle Beach products and have always spent the extra money to purchase this brand.

Amazing upgrade from the standard xbox 360 headset.Very easy to hear all types of noises in the game. There is one weakness with this particular headset. The internal wires in the talk back cable(the cable the enables you to talk while you are playing) break and cause annoying feedback to those listening to you. This part is only available through turtle beach. If you buy a used headset consider purchasing a new cable at the same time.
The only small issue is the Headset will stop work for a short period and then start working out of no where. Other than that, the headset makes your game a whole new thing of hearing things you normally can't hear through speakers. Make sure to get rechargable batteries for the wireless for it dies use bayteries fast if you game a lot.

I bought this unit for my son who, until now, had a Turtle Beach wired headset. The wire was always tangled and dragged across the floor where his sisters were in danger of tripping and pulling the xbox off the shelf. This wireless headset set up in seconds, was paired easily and is safe and out of the way! Sound quality is absolutely fantastic, both game and chat. Recommended.

This headset is incredible with the XBOX ONE. The only drawback is the way it eats AAA batteries. You cannot use rechargeable batteries with the x42's. The sound is crisp and clear with many alterations available. You cannot go wrong for the price!

I have used these phones for First person shooters since launch on both X360 and XB1, they have great surround sound making it easier to tell positions of your enemies, I tried the new Astro's (A50 +base stn) but although more comfortable still not as good in sound.
