I didn't get to see t...his product as my wife and I purchased an assortment of Glasslock as a wedding gift and had them sent direct to the Bride. But we do have a host of Glasslock ourselves and we highly recommend it. We have a few other pieces of two other brands as well, but the Glasslock is the best. Unfortunately, as with all glass storage-ware that seals air tight (all that I have seen), it has plastic lids. But the food doesn't come in contact with the lid if you don't overfill the containers, and Glasslock lids are BPA free. There is one other thing I would mention, keep an eye on the rubber seals. If you see any black dots forming between the seals and the lid, it will be mould. Pull the seals out and wash them, dry them and put them back in. You could pull them out every time you wash them but then there is more risk of damaging a seal. It was probably 18 months before we saw any mould in ours, and then it was only in three out of about 25 peices we have. The mould is a non issue really, in fact it's a good sign, you know that the seals are not impregnated with some evil mould killing chemical! Glasslock is made in South Korea and I think they have fairly strict laws about food and food storage. A client of mine manufactures stockfeed and exports some of it to South Korea. He had to change his formula because one or two ingredients were not allowed in stock feed in South Korea, so they don’t end up in the milk and meat supply. These are ingredients our government allows in food for humans!!! So I purchase South Korean Glasslock, confident that it is one of, if not the most, healthy food storage options available.
