About this product

Product Information

For the discerning photographer, the Olympus M.Zuiko 75-300mm f/4.8-6.7 ED II lens was made for you. This 300mm telephoto lens excels at capturing even fast-moving subjects at long distances. This digital camera accessory is compact and portable, and it produces very high-quality images. Its superior optics and quiet operation make it ideal for both still photography and video in a variety of settings. These 300mm lenses are in the Olympus M.Zuiko line in the super telephoto zoom category. Metal mounts are designed for durability and a secure hold. Plastic barrels are created for a lightweight look and feel. They are engineered to be compatible with Micro Four Thirds digital cameras. These lenses are both powerful and compact, with measurements of 4.6 inches long and 2.7 inches in diameter. The weight is a mere 14.9 ounces, making it easy to carry in your bag for changing out as needed.Care was used in designing the optics for excellent image quality with this Olympus 75-300mm model. This lens has 18 elements that are offered in 13 groups. There are two Extra-Low Dispersion elements and one Super Extra-Low Dispersion element. These ED and Super ED elements virtually eliminate chromatic aberrations to increase clarity and sharpness. The ability of the elements to work together keeps colors true. Three high-refractive elements properly direct light at the best angle for high-quality photos. The glass elements are coated with the specially designed Olympus Zuiko Extra-Low Reflection Optical coating. This ZERO coating decreases reflection on both the internal and external surfaces of the glass. This helps to eliminate ghosting while making the lens more durable. The ZERO coating is particularly helpful when your subject is backlit. ZERO allows you to get text-sharp images even when shooting into very bright lighting. This Olympus model gives you the option of either auto or manual focus to handle all of your photographic needs. The auto-focus is the Movie and Still Compatible type. MSC is very fast, making it easy to track quickly moving subjects like athletes or wildlife. It's also very quiet, which prevents the sound of the focusing mechanism to be picked up by your microphone. The stiffness of the ring is great for making very fine manual adjustments that will hold their position during shooting. The focal length of this zoom lens is 75-300mm, which is the 35 mm equivalent of 150-600mm. It can focus from distances of 2.95 feet to infinity. The diagonal angle of view ranges from 16 degrees to 4.1 degrees. This lets you capture as much or as little of the background as you need. The aperture of this Olympus M.Zuiko 75-300mm lens has a maximum size of f/4.8 and a minimum size of f/22. This means that you will always have the right illumination in any lighting conditions. It also has 58mm filter threads that do not rotate as the lens focuses.

  • Best bang for the buck

For a traveler shooter, this may be the best ticket: small, light, sharp, affordable; wish it's weatherproof to match the EM1 and EM5II cameras, and hood is included; won't need a Pro lens since this would do it; AF struggles a bit under low light ; this coupled with the 14-150mm would constitute anyone's light travel package.

  • Pretty Good Lens Great Value

I tried some test shots, Considering the range on this lens it's a good value. It's a bit slow focusing and the pictures come out sharp and clear with good color on my Olympus 5 MarK II

  • Very Small for the Long Range it Covers

I have used this lens a few times on my olympus camera and have been very pleased with the results. For my purpose it is just fine. I find the reach is more than adequate for my purposes. It focuses very quickly but of course does not do as well when it is not so bright outside---I need a more expensive lens for that---but I will just wait for the brighter days. I am not a professional so am very happy with the results I am getting from this lens. Thank you very much

  • Good value zoom that is great for wildlife and birds

Pros: -Lightweight -Small -Has the same reach as a 600mm full-frame lens due to the Micro Four Thirds crop factor -Fairly sharp, all the way to 300mm (even better if you sharpen the raw files in a good raw editor) -Very fast focus -Works hand-held on most recent Olympus OM-D bodies (with in-body stabilization) Cons: -Aperture only opens to f/6.7 at 300mm, so high ISO or long exposures required in dim light -Zoom ring is very stiff to operate -Tripod needed for un-stabilized cameras, like many Panasonic Lumix bodies

  • Fastastic lens

The ony downside is the aperture is on the slow side but bump up the iso you will get great puctures since it's a long lense you need is on the camera or a tripod. If you own olympus cameras please buy this lens. If your cameras don't have IS then buy lumix 100-300mm. I cannot find anything bad to say about this lens unless you buy a big canon and them big bazookas you won't get better pictures or pro Olympus glass. I will save money to pay for my trips.

  • Great lens for long shots in good light

The lens does what I expected it to do. Clear pictures, amazing magnification of distant objects. Having said that, you need a tripod to use it at full zoom. Even resting on a wall or on the roof of my car, I could not avoid camera shake at full zoom.

  • Wish it was weatherproof, still a great value

The size and weight mean you can throw this in your backpack for when you need a strong telephoto. Best in bright light, needs to be shot stopped down a little to get best results. Love it with my Olympus E-M5 Mk II . . . the 5-axis stability control makes hand held shots possible.

  • Wonderful value

It's the smallest lens of this focal length that ever got and also one of the sharpest which isn't a small feat. The only cons is may be it's not fast enough for action tracking and focusing which should be expected at this price point.

  • Great pictures, but the lighting needs to be right.

This lens is a great product at a great price. It's low light performance isn't the best, which does lead to missed shots at times. However, if you have good lighting you can't go wrong. I've taken some great photos with it already and for the money I highly recommend it.

  • A good lens at a very good price

This lens is even better than I had expected. Haptic is excellent. It was described in ads as a lightweight lens but it has enough weight so you have a stable balance even if exposure time is not extremely short. I’ve taken a snapshot of a snake in my backyard from a safe distance without support. It is sharp enough that you can enlarge it and see my reflection in the snake’s eye. When I bought it it came without a lens hood which I think is absolutely necessary. The price of the original Olympus lens hood appears a little steep, though. Considering the modest price of the lens itself it is still a steal!
