I had purchased 2 of these pumps in preparation for the 2019 - 20 fire season. They where destined to be a back up pump and a spare for the existing pumps on site. My property was impacted by the green wattle creek fire in DEC 2019. These 2 pumps where commisioned prior to the fire and where also used in the defence against the fire front. Both pumps worked as designed. Yes they are a cheap chinese pump you pay for what u get ! They are good value for money and a great plan B option.They are more than adequate for the task. I actually ran 1 of them dry twice during the fire front when i emptied the tanks they where feeding off. The pump section was very hot and steaming due to no water flow. I refilled the pump connected it to a tank and it performed its task again with no damage to the pump. Even if it had failed it had saved property and lives worth many times its purchase price. Again value for money! Fittings and fixtures for the hydraulic connections are not great but are adequate for the task and are represenitive of the overall price point of the pump. Would i purchase again? Yes i intend to purchase another 4 for this upcoming fire season. I am realistic that i am buying to a price point and am not displeased by the pumps performance, after all they helped save my property. Read full review

Protege 8Hp 2inch pump
The pump arrived before the proposed date. The purchase process was simple and straight forward. The pump it replaced yielded three rungs in elevated tank. This pump yielded two rungs on its first run. The pump with some slowing and gate valve regulation will probably yield the same water gain. Happy with pump and its potential. The only thing missing from the sale was where to get spare parts other than from supplier and details of tappet gap and other settings as i service my own gear. All in all seems like a good deal.

delivered prior to delivery date unfortunely I haven't used it yet, still need an extra 200metres of polly pipe. To be used as a stationary pump, but will be using it 23/2 to fill 1000litre tank on back of trailer to water my large gardens . should fill tank in seconds. merv

Well engineered and prepared.
Unpacked the engine and pump, added oil as required, connected 2" suction and 1.5" output hose , added new fuel and set the choke and throttle as instructions, primed the pump as per instruction, then one pull of the cord and the motor fired immediately. Closed the choke off and the motor revved freely and then the 35M fire hose snaked into life and the spray was enormous. This really is a serious fire pump or water transfer pump.
